I'd say I'm a moderate epoxy resin user and this brand didn't work as well as advertised. This was my 3rd flood coat and it's leaving weird ripples all over my table(as shown in pictures)! It did cure so it did its job but I don't think it should be used for large pours. This may be more suitable for jewelry.... unfortunately it's labeled as tabletop epoxy.it also didn't self level which is fine but again with tabletop epoxy....you kind of expect it to do so. Not thrilled with results so it looks like I'll have to start my project again.

I bought the Crystal Clear Table top coating a year ago for a project making a counter top for a sink. Following the instructions provided I was able to apply the coating on top of maple wood plywood. For this 1st application I was sloppy and had many drips running off the surface and onto a cloth type drop cloth instead of a plastic coating as instructed. But even with my sloppiness the coating came out great with no air bubbles! I have since used it on 2 more projects and even bought a second kit of material. This is really easy to work with to get good results if you follow the instructions. A few hints I find s=useful are:
1. Sand the surface with 220 grit sandpaper and vacuum before coating.
2. Level the surface to be coated in both directions with shims. Be sure to use a plastic type drop cloth under the part.
3. I clean the surface with VMP-Napthal after the vacuum step.
4. I then clean the surface with denatured alcohol after the Napthal dries.
5. When the alcohol dries I start mixing the resin. Follow the instructions. Measure and start mixing in one container and then pour into a 2nd container for continued mixing. I use paint stirring sticks and the 2 qt. plastic containers purchased from Lowes or Home Depot. Note: I did not use the 2 container process for a small batch and it remained sticky for 5 days so I overcoated it with a 2 container batch and got a full cure.
6 Apply as instructed and spread with the foam brushes. Do not over brush.
7. I use a heat gun and use it on the seal coat, 1st coating. I spend a good deal of time at this stage to work the air out. After 3 to 5 passes with the heat gun the air is reduced greatly.
8. Then let is sit the allotted time and come back and apply the 2nd layer. I again use a heat gun to remove any air, but it does not take as many passes as the 1st layer.
9. Additional coats can be applied as needed.
Follow the instructions and you will end up with a nice looking product. The only think I have not figured out is how to control the dripping off vertical surfaces or edges. This is not critical for me, but for a decorative piece it would be important.
Anyway, great product. The material is totally clear when cured and it is hard enough to resist marking. I will definitely use this again.

Note: I live in South Ca and it is usually warm to hot here even in winter. I only use this for small stuff like molds and art and craft not table. This review is aim at people who are doing the same things.

I have use 2 other brand before this one. One was an Asian brand/out of America brand and one was art and glow. I love how affordable this resin is. You get so much for a lower price then art and glow. This brand heat up (don't worry if you start to feel really warm) and harden really fast so you got to work fast which is great for layering layer faster. When I use art and glow, I would have to let it sit for a few hour to thicken. This one heat up and thicken way faster. DO NOT LET IT SIT AROUND FOR 30 MIN in warm weather. It clump together fast.

My only issue with this resin is that sometime if you add certain pigment and stuff, it doesn't always harden entirely. When it clear, it harden beautifully. Clear, hard, and beautiful. When you add liquid pigment is where I have the most issue. Powder seem to work well with this resin but liquid can make it hard to harden. I never have this issue with art and glow, I even use paint in the resin and it harden beautifully. I haven't try paint in this resin but since simple liquid color already having some issue, I will stick to just using mostly powder with this resin to color.

Lastly, since I was having so much issue with clumping and the heat; I contact customer support. They were so fast in responding and helping me. I was able to quickly change my resin technique and improve my pieces. Overall, I would advice to make small batches then big one as it easier to control ratio, less pigment so it harden better, and you don't have to hurry up and finish all the resin with 30-40 min of mixing. In my opinion, for the price and amount you get, this is one is pretty good. It great for newbie such as practicing (since it is affordable) , faster to cure then most resin mix (newbie can see their result faster), and customer service is fast and reliable(if you have any question or concern).
It also great for crater and long time resin artist as you can make a lot of pieces for lower price but I think art and glow is a better brand for resin artist. It take longer to cure so you have more time to work with it, easier to color, and it is clearer even if it more expensive. (in my opinion)

Fun, messy DIY epoxy table

This was my first time using epoxy, and I was VERY nervous to do this project but it came out nice. It was definitely a messy DIY, but I made sure to use several layers of plastic and taped everything off. I also made a pair of cardboard slippers so I wouldn't get epoxy on my feet. My only mistake that I didn't consider until it was too late, is to make sure you dust your work area really good before starting and turn off fans until the epoxy is no longer sticky. My table has a few dust speckles in it, but luckily you can't really tell because it's black. The table is 40" and the 1/2 gallon kit worked perfectly. I also bought a heat gun to pop all of the air bubbles every 15ish minutes during the 1st hour because there were definitely a lot of those. The table was originally white, so I painted with black latex paint, added my marble design, let dry a few days and then did 1-flood coat of epoxy.

I don't know how this company can claim the "odour" of this epoxy is subjective to the person's sensitivity.
I had a sore throat and headache from mixing a mere 50mL altogether (25mL of each part), using full PPE (yes my respirator has vapor filters!). I am a resin artist and use a different brand of epoxy, but I bought this for a different project. I am extremely disappointed. Over 32 hours later and my studio still stinks. I've aired it out for over 14 hours now. Items used with this resin have been wiped with sanitizing wipes, then 99% isopropyl alcohol, and then washed twice with hot water and soap.. and they still stink. I don't know if my batch was bad, or what is going on.. but the odour is overwhelming and absolutely horrible. It feels like your are tasting it.. and it doesn't taste non-toxic.
I do NOT recommend this at all.

I was initially happy with this epoxy, it applies well and hardens properly.
However, within less than 2 weeks, the crystal clear finish started to yellow in the area that sees sunlight.
Upon further research, I learned that this is what differentiates a good epoxy from a bad one. UV protectant are the most expensive ingredients, so obviously they skimped.
Now I have a product that I worked very hard to build, that has a yellow finish. And needless to say, there’s no repairing this.
Save yourself the trouble, don’t make the same mistake I did, and buy a better quality epoxy.

Long cure time is best

The long cure time for this product made it much easier for me, a first timer, to get bubbles out and allow the product to settle.
It also forced me to slow down and think about the next step.
I had some "fish eyes" but this was because I didn't prep the wood as well as I should have.
Once I allowed the first coat to dry I used steel wool and methyl hydrate to rough and wash the fish eye area.
The second coat filled everything in perfectly.
I only used the two seal coats and one flood coat.
The piece (an antique sewing machine/vanity) looks stunning.
I am having trouble believing that - I did it.
