Better than your regular pair of jeans, a little worse feeling than the standard slim fit commuters.

I'm a huge fan of the slim fit commuter pros, and how they're made out of a material that's only matched by companies (such as outlier) that make a much more expensive pair of pants. However, my legs are a bit too big to fit in slim fit jeans. With that being said, these are definitely better fitting and more comfortable than a regular pair of Levi's, and they fit perfectly, however (and this may be because a black wash requires slightly different material) they don't feel as smooth as the standard slim fit indigo commuters.

Still very solid though, and for the price I paid (about $50) I couldn't lose.

I don't bike! I do bend, squat , kneel and sit in planes for way too long. These are perfect. I wear suits, but on business casual, these black 4 ways with a sports jacket are just right. I sized up at the waist, thinking that would give more comfort, no need. These 541's are perfect for those of us that lift weights and have trouble getting jeans that fit our quads. Martial arts guys, these are your jeans. I've owned premium brands 100 bucks plus but beat them, easily! Buy a couple of pair before some genius and "marketing" decides comfort is "so passe"! One drawback-2 colors. Levi's, get on that! At, least denim blues. When I'm out of the city, black jeans are like a Porsche in a pasture.

Currently, the product description for these Commuter jeans doesn't include many of the details from the Levi's website, e.g., "for the urban cyclist...with four-way stretch fabric designed for maximum mobility and comfort...woven with CORDURA...resistant to abrasion and tears...special coating that repels water and dirt." Also, the tag for these Commuter jeans says:

Sits at Waist
Extra Room in Seat and Thigh
Slightly tapered leg

which is a good description of their design (and fit), but it isn't included in the product description either (though you can see it in one of the photos). Hopefully all of this will get updated.

As cycling pants, these work well because of the stretch fabric and the relaxed fit. If you get caught in a drizzle, they won't get soaking wet, which can be miserable. I like the reflective strip -- anything that improves visibility (and safety) is a good thing. They are presentable off the bike as well, though they are a little baggy in the seat due to the design. They have a zipper fly, with one button at the top, which I guess is what Levi's means by "Button closure."

One way they could be improved: The fabric seems durable, but cycling jeans tend to wear down in the crotch faster than anywhere else, so a reinforced crotch would help. Otherwise, I'm pleased with them.

Jeans are hard, you never know how they are going to fit or how they're going to feel over the long-term, but I took a chance on these. I'm happy to say I'm not disappointed at all. These fit great and feel great, but have one annoying problem...

I'll start with the annoying problem: they are a lint and hair magnet. If you have a pet, these will attract every hair your pet sheds. They also attract lint and dust, so depending on the environment in which you wear them, you're going to see every piece of lint, hair, and dust on them. If I sit on a chair on which my cat has been, the back of these are covered in hair. This just happens to be one of those materials that attracts everything. You've been warned.

These fit wonderfully, and are everything I want in a pair of jeans. The waist is absolutely true-to-size. Currently, I'm somewhere between a 33-34 inch waist, and a size 34 fits absolutely perfectly -- not tight, not loose, just absolutely right. Shirts stay tucked, belts don't ride up. These fit the body, especially the waist, exactly how jeans are supposed to fit.

They are loose in the crotch and thighs, so when you sit, nothing pulls and tugs. I have ample room to squat in these. They offer great mobility and flexibility. There is a slight stretch to the material, but they don't stretch out. After four or five washings so far (wearing them about 4-5 times between washings), they still have this great shape, fit, and feel. The legs taper fromthe thigh to the ankle, and give them a great modern look. From front to rear, they look really great on me. (I should state I'm also 150 pounds, 5'7", with a modern/athletic build.) So if you're "fit", these should look great on you.

The pockets are good and roomy. Nothing slides or falls out of them. They do have reflective material on the outside of the ankle, if you roll the ankle into a cuff. I do not use this feature, but it's good for night walks, rides, etc.

The material is splashproof. You can dribble water, or even splash water on these and it will bead right off. This makes them good in the rain. It takes quite a bit of moisture for them to actually start holding water, and even then, they don't feel wet. They do feel a little more stiff than regular jeans, but I feel this improving with each wash (I'm five washes in).

From a care perspective, they should be washed and dried inside-out. If you have anything even remotely "linty" in the laundry, these will attract every piece of lint from that item. However, they do wash well and any trace of hair or lint that was on them before I wash them is removed during the washing and drying cycle. Again, you've been warned.

These are definitely a luxury jean for me, but they are just amazing. They are the first pair of jeans I reach for in my wardrobe. I would like to get another pair of these, that how much I like them. If you want a durable pair of jeans, that are also comfortable, and have a great look for an athletic fit, these do not disappoint.
