I was a little concerned about a few of the reviews when I bought this printer. The reviews said it used toner really fast and, although I don't print tons, I have found it to be fine so far. I bought it in November and I am still on the original toner. I would say you need to spend the extra and buy more memory but this is not that expensive. I maxed out the memory and it was easy to put in.

As for quality, the Lexmark is a pro and shows it. It is quiet both in standby and when printing. Prints are clear and vibrant and I have it set in economy mode. My only gripe is that I use it as a WiFi printer and to install it you need a USB cable that does NOT come with it. Fortunately I had one but, for all those out there dying to use their new Lexmark and who don't have one... you will be out of luck.

Good printer, lousy inplimentation of installation software

I received my printer yesterday so obviously these are first impressions only really. The installation process is more painful than it needs to be in my opinion. After we had the printer set up on our wireless network, the printer printed color photos very well, the colors were vivid and the images crisp. I even installed the mobile printing app and was able to easily print photos from my Galaxy S3, The black and white text was also crisp. There is a firmware update that I have yet to install on this printer available on Lexmarks website. Once I have it installed and run the printer through its paces again I will update this review.

Buyer Beware!!! I loved this printer until!

I loved this printer until it ran out of toner. I bought some cartridges off of Amazon paid over $200+. And this was a good deal because Lexmark wanted $300+ for the set. Put one in Cyan first, all is well even though these were refilled cartridges. Then the black was installed no problem. Them decided I wanted to get my IOS devices working with the networked printer. No AirPrint, so needed to use Lexmark app. Then suggestions for upgrading firmware popped up. I though great maybe more Apple compatibility. Wrong!!! The new firmware shuts off any non factory refilled cartridges and made them worthless. The second the firmware loaded the toner error messages started displaying and even though the cartridges were installed and working prior, they were no longer recognized. What an underhanded scheme is Lexmark running. There is no warning prior to the firmware upgrade. I can by a new printer for less than the price of toner cartridges from Lexmark. And the yields are poor as stated in other reviews. The chips on the cartridges count copies made and approximate use. There is often a lot of unused toner in the cartridge, but it cannot be used as the printer has calculated that it must be close to empty and the calculations are wrong. Pull one out when it says replace cartridge message comes up and peel the label off the side and you will see the refill cap there. Open it and see the amount of toner wasted. It is a blatant rip off. And now they are controlling the use of non-oem cartridges. Buy a different brand of printer, research the yield of the cartridges and the prices. If the cost of toner is the same as the cost of the printer, it tells you something.

Do not buy!! low yield toner, will not let you print when one is empty.

The quality of print for this printer is very good however; the yield for the toner cartridges is very low. My page count right now is 360. I replaced the black cartridge already two weeks ago. My Magenta is now out and this printer will not print at all because of the "88 Replace Magenta" error even though the black is full. You can't even access any of the printer menus. I just flashes red until you pay for a new cartridge.

This is the first printer I have owned, color laser or color inkjet, which does this.

Who designs stuff like this? Is this just a greedy grab for toner money?

These cartridges are expensive!!! I am now going to buy different printer instead of sinking more money into low yield cartridges.

If you have the money for this printer and cartridges, the WIFI works much better if you skip the software setup and do it manually.
