About Li Miao Lovett
Li Miao Lovett began her writing career after a 600-mile backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail where she encountered a stalker, a compulsive poet, and ten thousand mosquitoes. She has written about environmental and cultural issues for Earth Island Journal, Narrative Magazine, High Country News, and KQED public radio. Her literary work has won awards in both fiction and nonfiction. She has organized events for Words Without Borders showcasing the works of dissidents and censored writers. Her debut novel, In the Lap of the Gods, is a tale of love and loss set amidst the rising waters of the Yangtze. "A compelling, sometimes damning portrait" of the Three Gorges dam project (Barnes & Noble Review), the novel would likely be banned in China.
