Jessica is a wealthy businesswoman who lives alone and tends to stick close to home. She has never been fully accepted by her family and has a secret that has haunted her for years. Her guilty pleasure is a porn series featuring a woman whose self-confidence on the screen helped Jessica when she was going through a rough time. Now her favourite actress has just crashed into her home. Jessica convinces Neve to let her invest in her business but mixing business and pleasure may not be a good idea after all….
This is an ok book. It had its moments, but it is not anything I will ever need to read again. I was unable to connect to the characters and I had a hard time caring about either of them. Neve was mistrusting of anyone rich, making all sorts of assumptions even though she has nothing to base it on. She is either really into Jessica or regretting having anything to do with her. Jessica is a wonder too. She is introverted but smart and has no clue how to have a normal conversation or explain her actions. There is a defining moment that tears them apart but for something that seemed pretty harmless and done in the heat of passion by an awkward woman suddenly turns into a big deal betrayal and after the fact the author makes it Jessica out to have done it on purpose and nothing to this point has me convinced that she is that conniving or rude. Not to mention it was all REALLY blown out of proportion. Also the women have known each other for such a short time and all of the sudden Jessica is in love…. It’s just weird and even though there were some good things, it really didn’t do it for me.
Neve Lee grew up in the foster system in Sydney, she went through a few homes before she was welcomed into the home of Mrs. Farrellton were she thrived. Now a mechanic and ex porn star Neve has saved enough money to start her business of mechanics and restoring old cars, but when she crashes her first old car into a wall in a wealthy suburb and meets the owner of the house Jessica her life is about to change.
Jessica Beaumont comes from a well to do family but has always been the quiet geek, she has built up a very successful IT company and keeps to herself, she is surprised when a car crashes into her garden wall and even more stunned when she realizes that the driver is her idol from the porn star show and Jessica wants to help Neve any way she can and she has the money to help Neve with her business as, if only Neve will let her, but that may mean opening up about her secret.
I really liked Jessica, she has a heart of gold wanting to help people were she can but her love for Neve causes her to make a few mistakes, Neve is a bit stronger than Jessica and is wary of losing her business and her heart, she has been cheated before. But they both cannot let go of the feelings they have for each other and Jessica is determined to prove her love for Neve and when Neve finally her love for Jessica the joy is worth the ups and downs. MS Dahlia has taken on a few matters that are very relevant in our world today really well and I did enjoy this very well written story and I hope that you will pick it up as well.
