As we all know all too well: Adulting is hard. Especially when it comes to eating healthy (we still don’t understand why we can’t eat chocolate cereal for every meal). But if there’s one technique that can possibly save us from our hungry, hungry selves, it’s food prep. And if you’re going to take the time to cook and store a whole week’s worth of meals like a mature adult, you might as well look like a mature adult, too. So toss those old plastic leftover storage containers and populate your kitchen pantry with the Libbey 8-piece Small Glass Bowl Set with Lids. These fun, versatile little glass bowls - complete with air-tight lids - are perfect for shaking up a fresh, delicious salad, shake or pasta dish, stacking away in the fridge, and popping into your bag for a quick ready-made work lunch. And if you’re like us, and find yourself eating your homemade lunch before 10am - well, don’t forget to pack up your multifunctional bowls with a morning snack. Maybe some fruits and veggies. Or chocolate-frosted mini puffs. That works, too.

So, these, for me at least, have been perfect. They hold about 4 oz. and they seal very well. I've pre-chopped onions, garlic, ginger and stored them in my refrigerator for recipes I want to make in the next day or two. The lids are tight and they never leave an odor in the refrigerator. I've used plastic storage containers but they are generally larger than what I need and the chopped veggies don't seem to last as long as they do in these little glass cups. Plus, I don't have alot of counter space and these take up very little. SInce they are all the same size and stack well I don't have to work around them. Makes pre-assembly and organizing ingredients easy and makes cooking alot less stressful .
UPDATE: I've had these seven months now and can report they are still holding up well. I do use them to warm things up in our toaster oven (not with a broiler though) and have had no breaks or chips. The lids haven't warped even though I wash everything in the dishwasher. The longer I own them, the prettier I think they are! Am upgrading to a full five stars.
I sometimes forget how multi-functional these little bowls are and wind up using other items in the kitchen until I remember-- FREEZER, OVEN & MICROWAVE safe.
I have one of my stove holding a bit of bacon grease --- I know, I know, but some recipes really rock with bacon grease.
I use several for my own spice blends. And these are just the right-size for an individual baked dinner treat or cocktail sauce dip.
I've even used them as measuring bowls since they are the perfect one-cup size.
What will be next--holder for push pins? for kitchen notes..., bed-side lozenge/candy jar?..., endless options.
These things fit the bill to serve my serving and storage needs almost perfectly. To be perfect, I don't think there is a product on the market that does fit the bill. I'm extremely pleased, agin to rephrase, because they are a pretty good quality, there's more than 1, they look good and are, 'relatively' or not, priced very acceptably.
This is an update written only a week or less after the original review:
I mentioned that I only needed only one or two at the most storage/serving condiment holders. This set came with 12. I had pretty much written off the other 10 as I really needed, it turned out two containers.
I've got one left now that's unused. I've got two in the refridgerator with jams in them in case company comes and I want to put something out with far, far better eye-appeal than a jar of jelly/jam that was opened weeks ago and 1/2 used.
The rest I just ended up using. I've got instant coffee in one; honey in another; peanut butter in another one: not bragging too much, it makes serving up peanut butter and jelly look classy.
I am extremely happy with my purchase of this item. I don't think I need anymore. I've got one left as I write. If I end up using that unexpectedly, I'll order another box of 12.
If I never use even one of those 12 I'll have saved a great deal of money considering that the one I set out to buy originally doesn't store well and was maybe $8.00 to $10.00 more just for one conainer. Not one package that contained more than one serving/storage container: but one single solitary serving container. (Notice the word "storage" was omitted. This was not unintentionally done.) One serving container that you have to fill, later throw away the unused portion or put it back into it's original container and then have to wash and store the thing.
Enough said, or what?
