The "Flex" part of the description means that you can use half of the lower section for shelved goods and have the other half available for your long guns, or both sides for long guns.
The top shelf is fixed in place with a gap at the back for longer rifles. It is not the sturdiest of shelves, do not put all of your ammo here, it will sag quickly. The top is carpeted, the edges are trimmed in plastic and the bottom is bare board. The finishing on the other shelves is the same.
For the gun rest; on the left side there are no provisions for shelves and the basic U shaped rest furniture, on the right there are shelf tracks and 2 movable shelves with a cover to place over the long gun rests which consist of 2 cutouts (right to left) with rest notches.
The door takes velcro furniture well, but is not attached except at the edges, so do not overload it.
The safe is deep enough for standard military style ammo cans, but the plastic ones are too deep and will not fit.
The combination lock is a S&G non-settable model, but likely a standard holeset if you were to change the mechanism at a later time. This model uses locking plates instead of bolts.
According to the paperwork, it weighs in at 365 lbs, that sounds about right. The door IS removable with care and a 1/8" allen wrench which makes it easier to move, getting it back on is a bother.
It is ready for an optional power passthrough if you need power inside the safe for lights or a dehumidifier, decide on this before mounting it as that location is in the back.
Was not impressed at all with Stack-On. Loose handles or having to push in door to get it to lock correctly is bogus. Definitely you want to "test drive" a safe in person. Too much hassle to return.
Liberty Safe is worth the extra money. Just shop around for a good deal.
..a coworker has a colt python that he wants to trade for my ar15..anybody knows how pissed I am that I can't make the trade..really liked the safe...but now
