Detective Maura O’Halloran is certain Keenan Shy, the man who killed her brother and sister-in-law, is back in Boston. She also believes that his cousin, Roland Chandler has a better idea of how to find Keenan than he is letting on. At this point, she is willing to try anything to get his cooperation, even some female wiles, but can a player like Roland be seduced?
Roland just found out about all the romantic/threatening letters that Keenan has been sending to Blake over the last few years. Roland knows that Keenan will have dropped hints of his whereabouts in those letters. He won’t be able to help himself in his overwhelming need to prove himself a better man than Roland. But Blake gave the letters to the lovely and tenacious Detective O’Halloran. One of the first things that Roland’s father taught him was how to charm a mark. He might not have to pick pockets any longer, but Roland is certain he can charm his way into Maura’s file and maybe even into her bed.
Maura is nothing like the woman Roland usually dates and maybe that is part of the attraction. Maura is strong, fierce, and is dedicated to her job, and just like Roland, Maura will do anything to protect the people she loves, even step into the direct path of a psychotic killer.Read more ›
Detective Maura O'Halloran has been hunting Keenan for over a decade to avenge the death of her brother and his wife that left her infant niece orphaned. Maura has been raised her niece with the help of her disabled father, a retired detective for the Boston PD. While the case against Keenan has gone cold since he escapes in the last book, Maura has not given up the search for him.
When Roland first met Maura over ten years earlier they clashed and every encounter afterwards reinforced their mutual dislike for each other. In an attempt to out maneuver each other to catch Keenan they begin trying to seduce the other to glean information about the case that they're not sharing willingly. The thing is Roland and Maura are hot for each other and sex is explosive.
I love this couple. Maura, the tough, no-nonsense detective able to call Roland on his bulls*** and also be able to surrender and let him have his wicked way with her. Roland, the slick manipulator, able to get his way with slight of hand and other tricks that are completely useless on Maura.Read more ›
