I enjoyed the story very much. It is very original and filled with twists that will surprise you every time. Just when you think everything is going one way something happens to grab you and make you say WHAT was that.
I love the depth of the characters and the settings. The descriptions let you see along with the story.
This story starts with the creep factor right off the bat. You have what sounds like a man trying to make up a life in his mind. It appears as though he is going to try and make an unconscious woman believe this life is true.
Then we meet Kay. She seems to be a normal woman living a normal life. But instead of being happy that she is married to the doctor of the town and seemingly has the most quaint perfect life, she doesn’t care for a number of things. She puts on a front to the rest of the world. Always smiling even though she can’t stand her house, the town, and half of the time, her husband.
Steven is the town doctor. He absolutely loves his wife. For him, everything in life is absolutely perfect. He has his doctor’s office, he has his wife, his house, and he has his secret lab just outside of town. Wait, what?
Yep. Steven is a doctor that has been working on a cure for Alzheimer’s. But the cure that Vyberdex has been working on has gone terribly wrong. So now instead of restoring memories, the treatment takes them away and allows the patient to be reprogrammed.
Life in quiet little Harrow Haves is typical of your every day small town. You have the best friend that is worried sick about her wedding prep, you have nosey neighbors, everybody knows everybody, and the diner down town has the best food around. So when a stranger comes to town, it stirs things up a bit. He stays at the local Bed and Breakfast, but he seems to keep running into Kay.
What is this stranger in town for? Does he have a motive for being there? What kind of problems is he going to bring with him?
“Between the lies and snow-clad graves, cries the truth of what happened in Harrow Haves.”
I give this story 4 stars. It has intrigue, it has suspense, and it has characters that you grow to love and grow to hate.
I didn’t get the closure I was hoping for with this story, but I think that was intentional because this is a series that will continue. And let me tell you, the ending didn’t bode well for the future of Harrow Haves.
