Life According to Poetry Kindle Edition
As you, too, take this journey, remember those whom we choose to share our path will light our way. It leaves us ready to face the world afresh once again.
I will never be the person I was, instead I will be something better.
I will let the gift of today help me reach the heights of tomorrow,
and the scars of my past will be the jewels glinting on the top of the mountain.

About the author

British fiction author Sarah Northwood lives in a small village with her husband, two children and writing companion, a King Charles Spaniel. She is the author of multiple books, which cover poetry, psychological thriller and children’s works. When not writing, she enjoys making good piano music sound passable and inventing new pieces.
Her poetry books include: Butterfly Dreams, The truths We Tell and Little Moments of Calm.
Her thrillers include: The Unravelling, The Volunteer and She’s Not Gone.
Her children’s books include: Unicorns are real and other cool poems, Legend of the Night Unicorn and Aerwyn, the girl who dreams.
"Growing up in a little town, I was surrounded by animals and a loving family. However, I never quite knew what I wanted to be when I was older. I've spent most of my working career working in science until a new life beckoned. Now I believe in never growing up! I am a Wife and Mum to two wonderful girls, who rock my world, they inspire me every day. I enjoy writing stories for children and adults. I’m a fan of romance, rhyme, poetry and composing songs. In addition, I also work part-time at my local school, which I love! I have a trusty companion, Charlie, who is my King Charles spaniel. Wherever my adventures take me, he is by my side."

The author’s Dedication speaks volumes about her target audience as she writes, “For all those who stand alone in a crowd, who feel things just a little bit too much and are still rocking at this thing called life, this one is for you.”
Northwood’s words flow from smooth composition to profound conversation as she unveils the various aspects of her life driving this intuitive and compelling collection of poetry.
As in real life, “Life According to Poetry” is a study of contrasts. Using various styles of poetry, Northwood successfully identifies with a wide variety of issues as she presents poem after poem geared toward specific topics of concern. Several poems, like “Heart-Breaking”, describe fear, rejection, and loneliness, while others, like “Winds of Hope”, offer hope and resolution. Northwood’s “United” describes how it feels to be separated from a lover while Jealousy” connects with those who are in restrictive relationships. Other works speak of family and career. Northwood even examines her own thoughts as a writer in “Sarah’s Soundbites”, and she essentially captures what it is to complete a work in her poem titled, “Six Feet Tall”.
All in all, “Life According to Poetry” is a volume of poetry any collector would be proud to possess, and I highly recommend this work to anyone who is searching for perspective and insight in their own lives.

My favorite is Black Scars: "...within its black I can see the stars, and each one serves to illuminate my scars. These battles that glow, are written memoirs."
Whether you love poetry or are new to the genre, I highly recommend Sarah's books as each and every one is a treasure to be discovered.
There are quite a few nature inspired writings, along with some (I suspect?) quite personal works. It's a quick read, I'd call it Flash Poetry which is thoroughly enjoyable.
I received an ARC of this book without obligation.
