About the Author
Marissa's story of Anna began with a dream about being kidnapped with Adam Savage from Mythbusters (Yes, really). Over the next year and a half, it morphed into the story that is now known as "The Life of Anna." She has several other stories in progress, one of which is based on her kidnapped dream. When she's not writing or editing, Marissa is taking care of two young boys, training to be an astronaut, running her household, wrestling with gorillas, playing around on Facebook, promoting whirled peas, and busting her tush for her accounting degree. She enjoys chocolate, air conditioning in the desert's summer heat, really good strawberry margaritas, sleeping, and shopping --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

This was dark, cruel and disturbing, but again I have to reference the Sleeping Beauty series! (Anything after that, is tame!) So, I plowed on. The reviews and warnings boasted for a TWISTED ride. But I didn't see where it warranted all the hoopla. Until I got to the jewelry store scene! At that point, I knew Devin was Satan himself!! At that point, I understood his cruelty knew NO bounds! And I was devastated for Anna.
But if the book had ended there, I would've given it a 3 star rating. Because even though it was dark, it wasn't "need a warning" dark! But the last 2 chapters!!! That's what moved this book to "need a warning" dark!
What this man did at the end!!!! I don't think I actually took a breath during the last chapter!!! I couldn't breathe, blink or think! All I could do was READ!!!!! I actually had hope for Devin, but after that, I realized that Anna could NEVER win Devin's heart.....because he doesn't HAVE one!
The author said that this book was the least dark of the series. All I can say as I go to buy book 2 is, heaven help me! It's STILL not darker than the Sleeping Beauty series, but if the other books get darker than this one, I'd say Anne Rice has some competition!
Marissa Honeycutt just blew my mind. This book was one dark, twisted, mind-boggling story and I still have no idea what the hell is going on.
I have never felt so sorry for a character than I do for Anna. Her life was stripped away from her by a dark and evil man and turned into a slave for his own personal gain. She is trained in a sadistic plan and world that she does not belong. It absolutely broke my heart at the way she thought and the things she did even though she was conditioned to behave that way. I was hooked to this book and its mysterious, somewhat supernatural element. The world that Anna has been raised into is absolutely terrifying to image. Marissa created this hidden society/brotherhood and it appears to be a world of its own. I was just mind blown.
I had no idea what I was getting myself into with this book and holy moley did I not expect this. The writing was great. The characters were great and fitting, even all the terrible characters, and there are a lot believe me. Even though the story may be too much for some people with a lot of content that will make people uncomfortable and I strongly suggest you be over 18 to read this, I really enjoyed this book. Not for the faint of heart, and beyond any erotica I have ever read.
Enslaved gave me a sense of anxiety the entire time I was reading, and yet, somehow it was fascinatingly - and horrifyingly - erotic that I just couldn't put it down. It's one of those books that I want to hate, just because of the horror of the premise and the disgusting men it portrays. But I couldn't hate it, because even though I despised some characters and my stomach was turning from the acts in this book, the story gripped me, and instead of mere words in a book reflecting off my glasses as I read, this enthralling story played before my eyes.
I'm pretty sure this series was only meant to shock. To titillate. To horrify. It did all three, and I'm sure I read the whole story with wide eyes. I'm not a huge fan of dark, but I was in such a funk I needed to try something different. I suspected a shocking, dark plot, and that was what I got. But what I wasn't suspecting was a romance with a mysterious man that I needed to see play out.
It's been a while since I felt so entranced in a book. Where my heart beat fast in suspense. Cringe-worthy. Stomach-turning. And fascinatingly erotic. If you're looking for those three, definitely give it a try.
She's a pain slut, as in pain helps her "let it out" much like cutting does for come abused children. If she can't chase pain, sex is a good backup plan...lots of dirty, nasty sex. You have to love a clubwhore who lives up to her reputation until she meets Bryce, the club's enforcer.
Bryce has his "damage." But he decides to help Delilah using unconventional methods . In the process they fall in love and he drums into her head that she is worthy. But she's still not out of the woods yet. She tests his boundaries, tries to manipulate outcomes so that she ends up spanked. Lots of good spanking scenes.
In essence, you have a heroine who has a lot of unfounded self-hatred, a man with a savior complex as well as being a commitment phobe
