Editorial Reviews

Review

"This patchwork of stories captures the very fabric of New York City. Each narrative thread is thrilling, sinuous and, somehow, familiar. Rosen has the rare power to make indelible impressions in the space of a page." — Hallam Bullock,
BUSINESS INSIDER

"Rosen folds operatic tragedy into bite-sized morsels, each tale a punch in the gut...these stories are surprising, subordinating expectations to whim and wilfulness." — Charlie Fish,
FICTION ON THE WEB

"Sometimes violent, rough, and uncomfortable but written with such gentleness."
Célia Consolini, REEDSY

"Phil Rosen's writing brings alive the New York of the imagination - the fantasy city every writer dreams of, but made real through vivid and charming prose." — Nathan Thomas,
INTREPID TIMES

"The text of this work is sparingly beautiful in a way that makes it feel more like poetry than prose, and it put me in mind of the storytelling style of Raymond Carver for its incisive portrayal of humanity with such fantastic brevity." —
READERS' FAVORITE

"
Life Between Moments charts essays of human relationships, some dark, some lighthearted, others enlightening, but all capturing some of the elusive spirits that make New York, New York. A vibrant collection of short stories that will make you shudder, laugh, and ponder." — Mario Garrett PhD, author of IMMORTALITY and CRITICAL AGE THEORY

"Heartfelt, immersive, and [it] makes you appreciate life to its fullest extent." - Victoria Giardina, author of

5.0 out of 5 stars A delicate, daring collection of stories that leaves you begging for more
By Austin Plambeck on August 12, 2022
New York City — a place I’ve never been, and yet now I feel I know it as I do my hometown. In LIFE BETWEEN MOMENTS, Rosen captures scenes, settings, and characters in a way that few can, injecting the reader into the story and pulling at our senses and memories and even our moments yet to come.

The first story literally invites you into the book and into the city, as Rosen effortlessly weaves in 2nd-person POV to describe *your* night out on the town, while commentating on the mindset of New Yorkers and the masks some may put up. As the collection continues, you’ll meet tragic characters, lost loves, and a spunky young heroine deserving of her own horror film. You’ll come across a doomed marriage with parents so idle and detached that their daughter is the only one caught in the bloody wake. And my personal favorite, a man with god-like abilities who dreams of forgoing them to live a normal mortal life.

The 12 stories of this collection bring you slices of life, of worthwhile anecdotes, and it will leave you begging for more. Rosen has successfully transitioned into the realm of fiction writing, and I’m going to keep a watchful eye on his next work
