I wanted you all to be aware that I read many say that Life Extension's Apolactoferrin actually lowered their iron levels compared to just regular lactoferrin...it can be risky for many women and children to take this form of lactoferrin due to the risks involved with having low iron levels, especially for pregnant women, elderly or immune compromised. You can usually feel the effectiveness of most lactoferrin supplements after you take them, with this one however I did not notice those effects. I also read from Fix Your Gut that this may be more effective with viruses but is much less effective against bacteria than regular lactoferrin due to the absence of iron. My advice would be if you don't understand how the apolactoferrin works compared to regular lactoferrin is to be sure to research this supplement or any supplements to make sure you are taking the right one for you. Also make sure to ask the company your purchasing a product from any important questions you may have that may effect you in a good or bad way.

Be sure if you take Apolactoferrin and you have low iron levels to take an iron supplement spaced apart from when you take this. The only problem that appears with many of these supplements is the information on almost all of them is not provided adaquately by the manufacturers. An honest company would want to provide you with as much information as possible about their product if they valued their customers. You can't rely on Amazon to give you the information as there are so many supplements sold, so make sure to do the research yourself and read, read, read! My hopes are that you will research the products so you will have all the information you need before taking them as some you may need and some you may not. My choice I found out is I prefer the regular lactoferrin as I am low in iron, but if I had a virus I do believe the apolactoferrin would be the one I would take.
Update: APRIL 2019/WHEY IS CAUSING ME SEVERE STOMACHACHES AND A ALLERGIC REACTION! Sadly I can no longer even recommend. A waste of monies for me! Might be ok for you.... if you have a Milk OR Whey Allergy do not take , causes coughing, severe sneezing fits. Running nose, itching , itchy eyes. I can take the Nutrogology with no issues!

This product has literally made my life better. I'm allergic to cow's milk and egg whites which is a nightmare. I used to be able to get away eating products made of those items as long as I didn't eat too much of it or more than once a day. In the past year however, i began doubling over in pain every time i ate anything with cow's milk or egg whites. Even a teaspoon of mayo was wreaking havoc. I began having to try and buy alternative products which just weren't very good. Creamer for my coffee was especially tough to replace. No bread, butter, ice cream or any products with a hint of cow's milk or egg whites. It was hell! One day while doing research for my problem i came across this product. It was advertised in a magazine for weight loss and when i researched about it and read the reviews i decided to give it a try. Although I don't quite understand how this is working in my system, I am now able to eat as many of those products as I like. It took almost 3 weeks to work for my stomach. I can't attest to it working for weight loss but this definitely solved my stomach problem. Medicine.net has basic information on lactoferrin and there's a lot of research being done on this supplement. I always research any supplement I'm interested in and sometimes I check its effects on my prescription medication. Hope this review helps someone😊

Update 1 Nov 2016: The Lactoferrin is working so well that I am now able to even skip my Prilosec prescription pill. That is amazing in my case because I have extremely bad acid reflux and have had H.Pylori bacteria before. My acid reflux is so bad I can't even drink water and keep it down without acid shooting out (disgusting i know!) And if that's not bad enough, my last endoscopy discovered I have stomach polyps which may or may not have been caused by the Prilosec. Ridiculous! Anyway....this stuff has not only helped my allergy problem but also fixed my acid reflux to some extent. It has taken about 4 months (I think) to get to this stage.

This particular form of Lactoferrin has been almost miraculous for keeping my teenage son’s face blemish free.
When he was fourteen he started to develop cystic acne. A friend I will be forever indebted to insisted that I immediately start him on this type of Lactoferrin. She had been taking her son to the dermatologist for years and all of the medications and skin care products helped a bit but didn’t stop the acne or scarring. Someone in the waiting room told her the one thing that helped the most with her child was Lactoferrin. Within a month of my friend putting her son on this product all new breakouts had stopped.

My son, who is now 18, has been on this almost continuously since he was 14. By the end of the first month there were no more cystic lesions and over the years he has rarely had even a pimple. The exception to that has been the few times I ran out and he was off the Lactoferrin for more than a week . Each time he would start to get breakouts in his temple and chin areas which then cleared within a few days of restarting. I also tried him on another brand and after a couple of weeks he started breaking out again.

It IS expensive as he takes 6 caps per day, but certainly no more expensive than trying to control acne with prescription meds and expensive skin care products. Plus, the fact that he could get through his teen years without the emotional trauma that severe acne can cause - priceless!
