In Life-Giving Love, Kimberly Hahn invites all families to embrace Catholic teaching on life issues. With personal testimony and practical advice, she shows that Gods design for union and procreation in marriage far from being a rigid, burdensome law is really a truth that allows us to be all we were created to be. The book opens readers to appreciate the beauty of Gods plan for married life.

Whether or not you are Catholic, and whether or not you agree with every one of Hahn's points, she has presented a very cohesive framework for understanding the ethical questions surrounding the contraception issue. At nearly 350 pages, this is a full-scope view on the issues of marriage, fertility, contraception, abortion, infertility, sex in and out of marriage, and related issues. It is perhaps worthwhile to note that Hahn draws heavily on Catholic church teachings and doctrine, but for me this was not prohibitive, as she references Scripture throughout the book as well. Even though I'd read widely about contraception in recent years, I found that Hahn presents many new points to consider on this issue. Having begun this book just after welcoming our fifth child into our family, I greatly enjoyed and was encouraged by reading Life-Giving Love.
Certain parts of the book seemed redundant. I often found myself feeling like had just read this material a few paragraphs before. I liked the inclusion of testimonials, but personally, wanted to hear more from the author's perspective. I also wanted to read more perspective on the impact of pornography and in-vitro fertilization on married couples.
This is a good book for couples just learning or wanting to embrace Catholic teaching on fertility. It reads very quickly.
You'll smile as you take a walk in the shoes of one of the most loving mothers you'll ever meet. She constantly maintains that her children are a blessing - through 7 C-sections. With righteous and just fierceness, she defends her family lovingly.
Having never really known the feeling of having someone stick up for me, or be so insistant upon love for me, it caused my heart to soar.
It is a numinous experience to read this book.
Her own life is a beautiful testimony, and it will revolutionize you IF YOU'RE OPEN TO IT.
