Welf Herfurth was born in 1962 in Goslar, Germany, when he was 14 he moved with his parents to Iran for several years were he lived through the Islamic revolution. After returning to Germany, he joined the youth wing of the NPD and became a member of the National Executive. As an activist and a skilled organiser he built one of the largest JN groups in his area and served in several school and technical collages representation committees. He was one of the few JN and NPD members in Germany that hold such positions. In 1987 he settled in Sydney/Australia where he married and had two children, he joined the Australian Democrats, a libertarian political party and was member of the NSW state executive for a short while until leaving the party due to political differences and joining One Nation, a raising political force in Australia at the time, and again became a member of the NSW state executive and a close associate of senator David Oldfield. Welf Herfurth has given up party politics and is a founder, organiser and chairman of the Sydney Forum, one of the longest ongoing political forums in Australia. He is also active in several community volunteer organisations. He has addressed numerous political groups in Australia, USA and Europe, spreading the ideology of National-Anarchism, Anti-Globalisation and the right of people to self-determination and preserving their culture. His writings appeared in many publications worldwide and he is a much sort after speaker, this is the very first time all his essays are collected into a single volume. About the Author

Welf Herfurth was born in 1962 in Goslar, Germany, and grew up in his early years in a small town near Konstanz in the southern part of Germany near Switzerland. When he was 14 he moved with his parents to Iran for several years were he attended the German-Iranian International school and lived through the Islamic revolution. The revolution made a great impression on him and showed him how fast a government can be overthrown as long as the people are determined enough. After returning to Germany, he finished his school and became a Mechanical Technical Draftsman. At the age of 17 he joined the youth wing of the NPD, the Junge Nationaldemokraten - JN (Young National Democrats) and became a member of the National Executive several years later. As an activist and a skilled organiser he build one of the largest JN groups in his area and served in several school and technical collages representation committees, always openly as a nationalist. He was one of the few JN and NPD members in Germany that hold such positions. But his political involvement had its consequences and he lost several employment positions as well as was kicked out of several houses. During this time he was attacked and beaten by the German Antifa, but he never wavered in his believes. Welf Herfurth again sold all his belongings in 1986 and travelled for one year through Russia, Mongolia, China and South East Asia. He was one of the first backpackers that travelled through China and had a first glance in a country that was isolated for decades. In 1987 he settled in Sydney/Australia where he married and had two children. He opened his own business that he ran successful for 10 years. In 1989 he joined the Australian Democrats, a libertarian political party represented in both the NSW state and Australian federal parliaments. He joined the NSW state executive for a short while until leaving the party due to to bigger political differences. In 1998 Welf joined One Nation, a raising political force in Australia and again became a member of the NSW state executive and a close associate of David Oldfield, the One Nation senator. After the decline of the party, Welf had a good think about his political life and concluded that party politics is a waste of time and money. His introduction to Troy Southgate and the ideology of National-Anarchism was a new beginning.

Excellent book. What you have here is a personal account of a political reactionary and reformer who presents us with hypothetical, and practical, solutions to modern political problems. Unlike other political texts which start from a high-level, theoretical standpoint, "A Life in the Political Wilderness" starts from the personal, immediate, and tangible, standpoint of the man who finds himself adrift, or lost, in a political wilderness that no longer seems to represent or respect him.

This is not a polemic, or rant: it is a personal manifesto. The chapters on Prussianism and pop culture are especially strong.

Where does political reform begin? Does it begin in the distant halls of uninterested central governments? Or does it being in the Wohnzimmers of the politically alienated? National Anarchism starts in these small environments, and to understand why, one simply needs to read this text.

Lost in the Land of the Hopelessly Apathetic

German-born Welf Herfurth has travelled widely but settled down in Australia at a time when the Third World immigration invasion was just getting underway. He however had the courage to look at issues of race, nationalism and national identity which mainstream politicians through fear or favour tend to shy away from. This of course meant he was on the outer as far as mainstream politics are concerned. Nevertheless he stuck to his guns and has had now put his ideas down in writing, producing a highly readable and strongly recommended work which would be of interest to anyone following politics or society in general.
