Rick Warren's book(s) did a great job of opening minds as to the importance of purpose. Brad Swift's book gives people specific tools to help discover one's purpose. If Brad's book becomes as well read as Warren's (my fervent hope) AND IF READERS DO HIS PRESCRIBED EXERCISES, this book could be a huge contributor to making the world a much better place.
From time and memorial, the wisest have correctly reminded us that the purpose of a fulfilling life ultimately is about service (to others). Swift's book provides an excellent analytical framework for how one can make such a focus work in today's fast paced, challenging world.
I highly recommend this book and the tools contained in the book. Far beyond most self-help books, this book could really change one's life in ways that would make a real difference in this world!
1. The self-assessment is simple yet effective. The author's drill down of each assessment question is meaningful and gives extra insight.
2. The personal gap analysis- identifying your current reality and identifying your ideal on-purpose life helps you determine where you are and where you would like to be. You can then align your strategies and action plans on how you plan on arriving to where you want to be.
3. The Wheel of Life is a great tool to identify and evaluate the important areas of your life. It really helps you visualize how balanced your life is in those areas of life you feel are important to you.
Coaches are always looking for the 'perfect questions' that help their clients deeply reflect and ponder where they currently are in their life and where they would like to be. The 'perfect questions' are foundational to building the commitment to get you to your new destination. The author has planted those 'perfect questions' through the book.
Once the discoveries are made on where you want improve your life, the author then gives you learning tools that will help you grow and develop into the type of person you want to become.
After going through the process in the book, you realize there really is no finish line on self-improvement. That is the beauty of the book. It does not come with the promise of a one-time prescription that will cure all your issues. It gives you principles that you can use and reuse throughout your life.
I highly recommend this book to those that are in search of a more meaningful and balanced life.
I am understanding it this way, your life is empty vessel or simple medium and what makes it valuable is your inspired life purpose which is your message.
Think of your life as medium to express your creative self-express(who you are) which is your inspired unique voice and ultimate calling.
In my life journey I have come to one conclusion that "Doing is knowing." everything else is equal to not knowing.
I have myself gone through various life context other than my inspired life purpose which includes :

5. False Security
