This instalment gives us more insight into Angelicas history and helped set the scene, without detracting from the story which, as always, is crammed with action,
I am fully invested in the futures of the characters and am looking forward to reading more.
I gave Stake-Out and Miranda's Rights, the first two books in the series 5 stars. As I think this one is the best so far it really should have 6!!
But Lily bug, these stories are fantastic!!!
The books do need to be read in order. If you have not yet read Stake Out or Miranda's Rights, this review will contain spoilers.
Danny Mancini is part of the group of people who know that paranormal creatures are not myth and fiction, but they exist in real life. He finally realizes that he loves Angelica Cross, regardless if she is half vampire. He loved her in his first life, and he is determined to love her in tis life as well.
Danny has now killed Vincent Cross, Angelica's father, been attacked by cursed werewolves, dealt with his dead fiance, who was actually turned into a vampire, and more. In book 2 Fiona Guilfoyle was introduced. In Danny's first life as Jonathan Price, Fiona wanted everything Angelica had. However, she is not able to kill Angelica, so if she can't have Jonathan Price, nobody can. So she killed Jonathan.
Fiona is determined to get rid of Angelica once and for all, and that will leave Danny for the taking. Fiona is not only a very powerful dark witch, but she has the help of Hell on her side. Will Danny, Angelica and the PID be able to stop her?
I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy paranormal, romance, vampires, werewolves, demons and so much more. I will be going directly into book 4. Review for Mommy's Naughty Playground.
Danny Mancini and Angelica Cross return once again for the enthralling 'Life Sentence'. Their beautiful love though strong - endures even more hardship, when Angelica has new battles to face. She is often underestimated due to her youthful appearance and graceful beauty, but the once Vamplet (aka Dhampir - half human and half Vampire). The events of 'Miranda's Rights' have changed her forever. She finds herself becoming Vampire and the horror of the last sliver of humanity slipping away makes her feel like she is losing her herself as a result. Her nightmare of becoming like her father had come into fruition - she was no longer half human and cold emptiness replaced her reflection. The value of who we are is important to many of us - can you imagine if what defined you was suddenly lost? To Angelica's horror, she discovered that is was Danny her human lover that had made the shocking desicion to have her turned whilst unconscious - to save her life.
"Dammit Angie, I did it because I love you.''
Angelica understands and still loves him with all her being, but she has to keep him away unroll she can control the hunger and the monster within. The shame of of a beast of a father haunts her mind and she feared that she may succumb to the darkness like he had done.
Danny and Angelica had a hard road ahead of them - the threat of an old adversary and the arrival of someone connected to Danny's past. Life and unlike was about to get complicated for our paranormal paramours. Overall a thoroughly fantastic read. A delectable mix of horror mystery. A darkly beautiful novella. Five stars *****
Just when you think that you know almost everything there is to know about the characters in the Paranormal Detectives Series, Luchesi introduces another wrinkle that adds to the complexity of the story!
While Angelica still plays a pivotal role in the plot, Danny and a couple of new characters take center stage as readers learn even more about Angelica's past and why Leland, the hunter from her past, is determined to eliminate her. I enjoyed seeing the past events from a perspective other than Angelica's. This perspective adds an interesting twist to the plot, and I am excited to see how it plays out in future installments of this series.
Luchesi does a great job of revealing past events without preventing the plot in the current timeline from moving forward at a decent pace. It is a break from the action that readers have seen in the first two installments of the series, but it feels like a natural and realistic pause rather than an awkward and contrived attempt to bring readers up to speed on past events that are relevant to the current timeline.
The ending is pretty terrific! Readers are left with a sense of closure, but Luchesi manages to leave us wanting more as there are plenty of questions that are left unresolved.
I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series!
