But, all the other pages of text, page numbers, and photos appear exactly the same and in the same order as the original printed edition which I had the privilege of reading. My next door neighbor loaned me his original edition.
In telling the story about Chief Sitting Bull, the author relates the life of the Indian tribes during a hundred years of America's westward expansion and the Indian's relationship with the U.S. Army, early settlers, frontiersmen and other tribes.
Chapter XX - Indian Wars: is a real surprise. Never before in any book on western history have I ever found a catalogue of the Indian conflicts with related financial costs per battle to the U.S. Government. Where else will you ever find the sum total cost given by a government census agent shown from actual records of Indian battles from 1776 to 1886? It was appalling, but a unique and thought-provoking section. The chapter alone was well worth the price of this book.
