Emmy Nominated! Frida Kahlo was more than a great painter: her life and art reflected the maelstrom of revolution and culture that defined the first half of the twentieth century. She was at times a socialist, a communist, and a revolutionary. This program presents her life as a reflection of her cultural history, her art and the times in which she lived. The film combines her artwork with photographs, archival films and interviews.

It is realistic and more informative, you'll understand and appreciate her through her story. I really liked seeing her move in videos as opposed to still photos. It shows a rare shot of Frida smiling, teeth showing (she didn't like her teeth). Although if you're a Frida oficionado I don't think DVD has unpublished information.
I love the movie "Frida" but wondered if there was more about this Mexican artist & woman.
This PBS dvd presented Frida with more information about Her & her husband, whose life
effected hers so deeply.
I would encourage any one wanting more information about the great artist & passionate
woman to get this dvd.
Some of my family recently visited an exhibit titled "Frida and Diego" at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and they came away fascinated by the subjects, especially Frida. Having acquired a copy of "Life and Times" some years ago and found it revelatory and riveting, I thought it would be the perfect followup to the exhibit. Naturally, I knew it would be available from Amazon, and naturally, it was delivered speedily to the recipients. Now you know what I think of the DVD and of Amazon as well. Cheers.
