This one starts with a man in a crappy hotel room. He's just killed another man, pours gas all over the room, and sets it on fire. The man spits on the roasting body.
Tom Greer is an airline pilot. He flies overseas on most flights. His home is in Nashville, TN. Tom was a US Navy SEAL and was deployed many times in Iraq and Afghanistan. He left the SEAL's when his first child, Emma, was born. He decided being a parent topped being a SEAL. His second child, Caleb, came along and he was quite happy with his life. He and wife Laura adored the kids and the kids grew up to be quite special.
All that ended when his two kids took a trip to Seoul, South Korea after they met a DJ. Tom and Laura figured something was wrong when they couldn't contact either kid. Both bodies were found much, much later. They are buried at the Greer farm in the cemetery there. Tom decided he would do something about those who were responsible for the deaths of his two kids.
So begins one damned fine read.
This one has Tom, Avery who is his computer whiz, Ned Baxter and FBI man who is paired with Tom as he investigates items being brought into the country illegally, a Ned Baxter Tom sure as hell doesn't trust, the kills of two more of the responsible parties, Tom's father The Admiral, a man who had been a SEAL in Vietnam, a man who suffers from dementia, a man who does manage to save the day, a Tom who is captured and tortured by Number Six, a rescue he never would have imagined, a meeting with Cal Stokes and Daniel Briggs and Ned Baxter and Tom Greer using his training, guts and abilities to take down the enemy, survive and look for number Seven.
On a few occasions, Mr. Greer appears to have met his match and finds himself in an impossible situation and within seconds of meeting the Creator. The story lags a little in the beginning and once questions are answered, it's hold on tight as the ride doesn't stop until the end. In fact, the ending is one that I would have never guessed...and opens the door for the next installment and possible group action instead of a single "pair" trying to make it all right.
Highly recommended! Mr. Cooper, time to get busy and get the new adventure out to market. If this is not his best book, it's in the top five.
Meet Captain Tom Greer, former Navy Seal, now, a commercial pilot, as he flies all over the globe. He is known as an all-around good guy…but, is he? Tom Greer has a dark and dangerous secret. Captain Greer harbors incredible grief over a past incident of unimaginable evil. Now, he is on a mission of staggering revenge.
A Life Worth Taking may not be for the faint of heart. It is brutally raw. Cooper fills the story with twists, surprises, and dazzling action. But this novel also delivers a moving, poignant and heartbreaking narrative. And folks, the surprise ending is magnificent!
I enjoyed every reading moment of C.G.Cooper’s, A Life Worth Taking! You will, too!
Full-bodied, fascinating characters, constant action, and twists and turns that shock, “A Life Worth Taking” will grab you from the beginning! Sophomoric musings 🧐 by Tom slowly bring out the story of a perfect life leading to a perfect disaster. Cal Stokes makes a short appearance (yay) which leads a long-time reader of C.G. Cooper to rejoice! An entertaining and suspenseful read!
I am so glad I did buy it. It has a different vibe from previous books, as the main character "speaks" directly to the reader, and we are introduced to a new set of characters. Nevertheless, it's every bit as entertaining and provides an enticing tie-in to familiar characters at the end. I'll be eagerly awaiting the next installment in this new series.
