This is really a good read! I enjoyed the book from the beginning - the story is told with honest emotion on each page. You can feel the pain and heartache. Such an uplifting story though as the author takes you thru his deepest lowest period to present day conquering the demon of PSTD. Makes me wonder how many soldiers returned from WWII with same condition.
The personal experience of healing & survival of a type most of us never experience is related to the reader with great sensitivity and firsthand knowledge. The authors heart and soul are exposed, nothing left to explain. 3 attempted suicides, being blow up by a bomb, crushed face, losing friends and many other obstacles are related in his climb out of despair.
I definitely would recommend reading this book

This brave marine sharing his story answers the question "what is the price of freedom?" Brad Fite has been to hell and back, and thankfully he lived to share his story. As a veteran, I was able to vividly imagine his story through his detailed account of his events. It takes a brave person to discuss their demons, and Mr. Fite is nothing short of a hero. Definitely worth a read and should be required reading for everyone. Great job- especially for a jarhead!

If you care for an at risk Veteran or are a Veteran experiencing “startle” reflex, memory loss, fear, flashbacks (PTS); depression associated with chronic pain after physical injury (amputation, brain injury, accident); suffering, sorrow, grief, regret, shame, alienation (moral injury); and/or self-medication (alcohol/drugs), anger, anxiety, insomnia, nightmares, panic attacks … READ THIS BOOK! Brad removes the warrior mask to expose his traumatic physical, emotional and spiritual wounds; a painful journey that leads him to HOPE in the face of hopelessness (1 Peter 1:3). From one disabled Veteran “still in the fight” to another … BRAVO ZULU Brad!

This is the story of a courageous Marine who reveals his darkest days after being blown apart in the war on terrorism. It is a saga of rehabilitation and redemption, hiding nothing as he claws his way back to a full life. Brad Fite's story is breath-taking in it's honestly, awe-inspiring in it's accuracy. This first-person account should be required reading for every citizen so they can clearly understand what we are asking our troops to do in our name. Brad, and thousands of others, have paid a tremendous price to protect us and they continue to be killed and wounded in distant lands in order to keep us safe. We owe them so much more than a pat on the back and muttering "Thank you for your service". We owe them our attention and understanding, we owe them our devotion in helping them come back again, in one piece, just as Brad ultimately has done. Buy this book, read it and weep, and then smile at the strength of his bravery.

Excellent read, very to the point and engrossing. As a non-military person, it provided great insight into the sacrifices of those who serve in combat: the physical, the psychological, the emotional and the spiritual. This book and others like it are key to see the indiviuals, not just the uniform. I wish Brad the best and thank him for his service and his continued support of those who also served.

Such an incredible story of courage and sacrifice. Stories like this are just more evidence that we need to take care of our veterans. Thanks for sharing your story with us Brad, it will help change the lives of many dealing with PTSD and help parents understand the pain these veterans are suffering.

Best book I have read. Brad's honesty and raw emotion is a beautiful read and it's encouraging.there are some parts that I was like seriously, seriously?I was mind blown. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone. I am grateful he decided to write through his pain and share his experience, though the sheer torment I wish I could have taken away, but I guess we wouldn't have the brad we have today. His last name is Fite for a reason. Thank you for serving our country, thank you.
