I could have saved $30/month on my electric bill over the last 3 years if I had known about the ideas in this book! That may not sound like much, but when you don't have an income, ANY expense is too high. In fact, now I know how to live without being able to refrigerate food if I become totally homeless.
Get this book for the future, if not for your present situation. This is good information to know when you need it, or if your friends or family need a way to cut down on expenses!
The next 26 pages are the true meat of the book with preservation and cooking tips, commercial products and if they worked for her family and recipes. Good stuff here! The last 9 pages are just common sense -don't be stupid- contamination tips, emergency prep tips and invite to the authors blog.
This book is full of practical ideas and recommendations. Highly recommended!
This is a very informative book on the topic of living without refrigeration. I learned a lot about options that would be workable and not too hard to implement, if the need ever arose to be without the "taken for granted" things like: fridges, freezers...
It really wasn't all that long ago when people considered having things like refrigerators as a luxury item. Nice to know, that if need be, we could still get by, eat well and safely too, if we had to forgo some of the conveniences that most of us take for granted.
A must read for anyone who plans to live off grid. Also for those who would like to reduce their power consumption in a significant and long-term way. Interesting reading for anyone who is mindful and concerned about their own carbon footprint.
