Love these molds -- got both the t-rex and triceratops. Used them for both ice cubes and melted chocolate. Used a little PAM before pouring in the melted chocolate and the pieces came out perfectly detailed. They were a hit on my son's bday cake - a dino-dig themed caked that looked like a pile of dirt with white chocolate dino bones.

Works well for chocolate AND ice. Easy to clean. Flexible and easy to store. Not the most realistic looking dino skeleton I've ever seen, but the only T-Rex skeleton MOLD that I found, so I couldn't be picky.

I used it for my son's paleontology birthday party: white chocolate in the mold to make 'bones' that I placed on top of a crushed-Oreo-covered cake (for the 'dirt'). Looked cute enough.

I purchased this mold along with the Triceratops Silicone Ice Tray to create white chocolate dinosaur fossils for a cake for my daughter. I melted the chocolate and spooned it into the silicone mold. Tapping it on the counter helped get rid of any tiny bubbles in the chocolate and fill the crevices in the design. The chocolate easily released from the mold once it set up. You don't need to use a releasing agent (like oil) as the hard chocolate easily releases from the mold even without it. You do have to be careful when removing the pieces to avoid breaking some of the more delicate areas. The detail from the mold left in the chocolate was perfect. It made for a really fun addition to the cake.

This t-rex ice tray is tiny! It so small you can empty the entire icetray into a small glass of water and all the ice will melt in a few minutes. I have to refill it every time I get ice and it is tough to balance that thing.

The t-rex is made of loose rubber with small rubber reinforcer beams on the back to keep it flat and shapely while you carry it around. Of course only the bottom of the bones get the cool dinosaur skeleton texture to them, the top is flat and smooth. The skull and abdomen are really detailed and cool to look at when they are ice but it's not really a good ice tray.

Being a velociraptor fan I wouldn't complain if it was a raptor, but since it's just a tyrannosaur I have to be realistic about it.

First off- these are small- I am using them as molds for plaster dino bones in a sandbox for a school event. As long as you accept that the whole dino is smaller than a sheet of paper it is a fun mold! I have tried spraying with non stick coating and using without the coating and found that it doesn't need it- as long as you make the plaster thick. The tail is the worst to easily remove and will often break, the head is hard too as the eye often gets stuck.. :) Have already recommended to others- just really wish they were bigger- making ice in these would be agonizing and time consuming to constantly refill for multiple people.

Mold is great, and my young dinosaur-obsessed toddler loves having it as a toy.

That said, the ice cubes it makes, though they look great as fossils, aren't as interesting/completely convincing as the mold itself. They're nice cubes, and definitely fossil-like, I just think my son prefers the mold to the ice cubs the mold creates.

I got this and the Triceratops mold for making white chocolate for a dinosaur themed cake. The cake had chocolate pudding as filling, and on top was frosting, the "bones" and smashed homemade oreo cookies as "dirt." For the birthday party we all excavated fossil bones! It was fun for everyone! Just make sure you grease all the small crevices before pouring in your chocolate and it comes out no problem.

Takes some finesse, but once you learn the week points of the end product this is an excellent mold. I used it to make chocolate pieces. Accept that your first tail will break, it's the most fragile piece. I've had some issues at the ankle and pelvis as well, but once you learn the right push points everything comes out in one piece.
