The Emotion Spitfire 8 Kayak is designed for stability, performance, and affordability. The ST Performance Hull gives this shorter kayak a surprising amount of speed and tracking without sacrificing stability. It is equipped with great features like our CRS padded backrest + molded-in seat for comfortable paddling. The rear tankwell has cargo bungee lacing to secure loose items and the molded-in carry handles make the kayak easy to transport to and from the waterfront. The extra volume and high capacity (up to 240 pounds) make this kayak the perfect fit for just about any size paddler from kids to adults.

Having said that, I really enjoyed this kayak for the use I intended--to paddle around a local reservoir or lake, watch the birds, relax, and just float around listening to music. This kayak is just great for that kind of beginner's or low end recreational use. It stays upright (my biggest concern) even in minor wakes from speed boats. It turns very well. The storage area holds enough items for the day--water, lunch, a small dry bag, so that's fine. The cup holder is shallow, and I don't use it. I will buy a different seat so there's a pad. As others have said, buy the longer paddles--this kayak is wide.
Now comes to my only real complaint--for those who find this kayak easy to load into your vehicle--good for you. I find it very wide and awkward and the handle grips are REALLY shallow. So, I wind up carting it around by the strap on the seat. I call my kayak The Ark for this reason. But it does fit into my 4Runner SUV, so that's easy--nothing required to transport it on the roof. Overall, if you want a kayak just for fun, a "floating lounge chair," something for the kids or beginners--this is great. if you want to keep pace with your friends in their sea kayaks . . . don't kid yourself. Invest the money and buy a larger vessel.
I've posted a photo but the light shades the kayak differently. It is a screaming bright red just like the product photo.
One caution, the kayak is shipped simply in a plastic bag. On the first delivery, both kayaks were badly damaged and had to be returned. Amazon was gracious and fast in the return and reorder. The second shipment was in perfect condition, though I made sure the delivery company remained while I opened the bags and inspected the kayaks. Don't let the shipper leave or sign for the kayaks until you inspect them.
