This is a capable fishing platform although the design doesn't have a lot of storage or places to secure your gear. When I fish with this I "go light" usually just 1 pole and a very small tackle box. If you are a serious angler there are better options. If you just want to get out and fish a few hard to reach spots it's fine.
I would recommend this to any "weekend warrior" that wants to have some fun playing in the water with the family. If you are someone that is serious about kayaking as a sport that you are going to do frequently I'd look to a longer, lighter, more narrow kayak.
A couple of caveats: They don't track straight, which is a trade off for the lateral stability. The message here is that you won't go anywhere very quickly since you'll be constantly trying to turn the bow back into line, so don't get caught in a situation where you need to move quickly (like a storm coming up). Also, Lifetime needs to accept the fact that these kayaks will be transported on their sides in at least a good percentage of their situations. While they sort of made a flat area for this, it's prone to warping in the summer heat along that area and the oar notches are not sufficient to keep straps in place along a highly curved angle. Mold in some handgrips like the bow and reinforce that flat side and transport issues would be solved.
One of my two has something rattling around on the inside, but it's not taking on water and so I haven't cared enough to try and figure out what's inside..but I hear it when I move it and it probably shouldn't be there.
The high vis yellow gets the stink eye from some of the traditional kayakers as we float around on the "banana boats", but their opinion means nothing to me when I'm visually tracking where my kids are. If peer pressure means something to you, go for the camo or green offerings.
Overall, these are a good time and I'll add updates if any problems arise with these as seasons pass.
You can sit sideways and get to your cooler, sit extra people on it, stand on it, crawl up to the front of it, it's got a big handle on the front so you can to it with a motorboat safely also! Nice kayak!
My dog can't grip and stay on the front section though, I'm gonna have to get some grip stickers for the front to fix that.
