From the Manufacturer
We've come a long way since our beginning. It all started as an idea in a garage in Riverdale, Utah. Lifetime Products' founder was a father who simply wanted to build a better basketball hoop for his family.
His passion for innovation quickly expanded beyond his initial project, and he created a company in March of 1986 called Lifetime Products. The philosophy for the name, as well as the goal of the company, was to build durable lasting products for consumers.
Lifetime Products has become a world-wide trusted brand as it has broadened from basketball hoops, to picnic tables, and to folding tables and chairs. Now our sheds, kayaks, and more are leaders in their competitive markets. From those first years in Lifetime's history, the company has grown from 15 employees in a partial warehouse to over 1,500 employees — all over the globe.

The only issue was it created a Thunderdome in my back yard. The children started chanting two kids enter one kid leaves. The benefit is there is now a venue for solving all arguments.
Update 3 1/2 years later...still love this thing! It still looks like it did the day we assembled it. No color change and no rust anywhere. We have lots of nieces and nephews still climbing all over it and it is still very sturdy and holding up very well.
With all the fittings tightened up, the unit is rock-solid. It is rated for 600 pounds, and when this big guy climbed up to test the top handle, it barely moved. I put six kids on it easily. The kids loved it instantly and spent three hours on it. I think it will get years of use.
One shipping note. The relatively small package weighs 105 pounds, and your UPS driver will have to get a second UPS employee to help unload. This delayed the delivery by two days. I received apology notes from both Amazon and UPS for the inconvenience. I can't believe Amazon ships this for free with Amazon Prime. The UPS folks took it all the way to the backyard and I took good care of them!
I contacted manufacturer "LIFETIME" to ask for a replacement bar shown in the photo. I've had this for less than 3 years and said I expected that it were to last a bit longer since the name of their company is "LIFETIME". Here is the response.
Our warranty information is explained in the manual. It also states our warranty does not cover acts of nature. Lifetime has been our name for over 25 years. It started with a our hoops that you could adjust in height. As your child grew you could adjust the height to their playing level. Meaning a hoop that could be used over a Lifetime. Our name is not intended to deceive our customer's in any way.
We will work with you this time, but all parts in the future will have to be purchased.
We got our box in a well-traveled condition, but all the parts and instructions were there.
It took my husband approximately 2 1/2 hours to build it and he only needed a 1/2" ratchet wrench, but the first one was not deep enough to tighten the hex nuts in the climbing grip holds, so he had to switch to a different set to get these tight enough. The set came together quickly, in spite of the fact that had to go back and redo some at first. The only problems he encountered were easily solved: first some of the pipes didn't want to align, so he powered them into place with a little torquing; then one of the screws got cross-threaded (take extra care to avoid this), but luckily they sent spare parts and he was able to replace it. The earth tone colors are classy and do look nice in hunter green and tree bark gray.
The kids, waiting with eager anticipation, pounced on the dome the moment the last hex nut was tightened gave it a test drive. All three were busy doing something. The three year old, who is small for her age at just 3 feet tall, immediately began scaling the lower level and hanging like a baby possum. She knows and respects her limits, so I am not concerned that it is a safety hazard even for her. The 10 year old tested her "gymnastics" skills, hanging upside down and dangling from the the top. My 12 year old tried out his bouldering abilities by checking out all the hand hold grips, and everyone was smiling ear-to-ear. My husband commented on its size and sturdiness. We have had it erected now for three days, and the first thing our kids want to do when they get up is go out to the dome climber. This is the first time ever they are biting at the bit to go outside without being cajoled and coaxed from their usual and preferred indoor loafing activities, and it holds their interest. I love that! It's exactly the effect I had hoped for, so I consider this purchase well worth it. The product is well-constructed and I expect that not only will it last for years to come, but it will also keep its staying power and appeal even as the kids enter into their teens. After all, who can easily resist the urge to climb anything as fun as this- at any age?
