First, the good. It was the product advertised. After reading several of the reviews here, that appears to be a common issue. It was extremely easy to program. I had it synced to my opener within a matter of minutes of opening the box. Apparently, syncing is a common issue, but I had no problems. I never got around to mounting the keypad, but it should be easy. Figure out where you want the top screw, put it in the wall and slide the keypad on there. Once it's there, pull out the battery and put the bottom screw in. Simple, but only as secure as the plastic is strong. The screws provided aren't the best, but that's easily remedied with a couple 3 inch drywall screws.
Next, the bad. I had a little trouble getting the battery cover off at first, but you have to press in and then slide down. The little cut out is deceiving. Don't pry on it. According to other reviews, it can break. Just be careful.
And finally, the ugly. The keypad opens my garage door randomly. I'm not living in the house for which I bought this keypad. We just closed and have some work to do on it first. Thankfully, it's in a quiet neighborhood on a cul-de-sac. I came by several times and the garage door was up. I was convinced one of the neighbor's opener was interfering, but it finally happened while I was working there one day. No other garage doors around were doing anything. The only change was this opener.
I love the idea of having one and will probably look for another. Just be careful if you get one. Keep an eye on your door.
getting it to work. I do think where you install it makes a difference. Before installing, see if it works at that location and check exposure to elements.
I live where it is 40-100 degrees, so no snow.
Also, I was initial confused about the "unique code every time" jargon. It refers to the code sent from the transmitter to your garage opener, not the code you type into the transmitter--that remains the same until you reprogram it. It's a safety feature that, as I understand it, prevents someone from being able to "copy" to transmitted code when you open the door, and thus open it themselves at will.
