I enjoyed Mallory and Quinn's story, but I had a few issues with some of the writing. I understand that this is the sixteenth book in the series and it's necessary to give some backstory for new readers so they know who the vast array of characters are, but probably half of this book was repetition from the older books. I found this very tedious because I wanted more of this story. I also get that Mallory is excited about her father, but the constant marveling about every little think Big Mac does also became a little wearying. I love the McCarthy's, but I didn't enjoy this book as much as some of the others.
After a year full of change, Mallory is back on Gansett trying to figure out what is next for her. She's lost her mom and her job and found her father and a huge extended family that she can't be happier to have. She's trying to figure out what is best for her as she moves forward, all with a secret that she hasn't let her new family in on.
Mallory ends up meeting a couple of very nice men during a meeting she attends on the island. Mason is the fire chief and Quinn is the new doctor that is going to be running the new extended care facility on the island. She's intrigued by both men, but which one will she choose?
As Mallory and one of the men get to really know one another, they realize they have much more in common than they initially realized. They both have had struggles, kept secrets and are working on coming out stronger on the other end and together they realize they could be stronger as a unit.
I really enjoyed the story! Marie does a fantastic job of making you feel like you are friends with all of the people that are on the island and that you're dropping in to check in on everyone. I'm looking forward to the stories that are still to come from this awesome island!
I have reread this series several times and can't wait for more Gansett Island and all the McCarthey's family and friends and the new additions to come.
So Mallory returned to Gansett Island for the summer to what she is to do next. As a recovering alcoholic she attends AA meetings where she met Mason John's and Quinn James. Both men are attracted to her but witch one gets there first.
Mason offers Mallory a summer job as a volunteer paramedic. But Quinn offers her a job in his new care facility as head of nursing.
Quinn is a trauma surgeon in the army and after an accident Quinn lost his leg up to his knee. He never told anyone about it until he fell into a hole in his brother Jarard's drive.
He got the courage to ask Mallory out on a date. One thing led to another and he fell madly in love with her. Mason was a bit jelious when he seen the two of them together.
After when Quinn hurt himself the second time he was pushing Mallory away but she is big Mac's Mcarthys and will not have any of it.
Another amazing book by Marie and it's always lovely to see all the old characters from previous books in it
