I’ll update if my experience changes. (Good or bad)
Update: Do NOT buy this. Both of these have now been warped and also, I appreciated this item at first, but I would NOT recommend this if you're getting it for kiddos. The knife part is a little too sharp for something designed to be put in your mouth. I haven't cut myself, but I also had stopped using the side with the knife, which sucks because that was the fork. Be careful! Also, hand wash these only and don't put them in anything hot like soup.
Oh, and just for clarification, I bought two of these and both are in the trash now from basically being used for their intended purpose. Do NOT buy this. I regret buying this. I got a nice proper metal set, which was nice a cheap and safe.
This item scales in a 0.3 ounces on my scale, as Amazon claims. For 0.6 ounces, a consumer could purchase the titanium version that Light My Fire also sells. I am likely to upgrade, and I recommend all but the absolute most weight-conscious camper to consider the more durable option.
HOWEVER, if the consumer considering this item is looking for something to take along a "eurotrip" or some other adventure (and also for dayhikers) where the person is not quite as reliant on their gear as a hiker, I would recommend this spork over the titanium. I do not see a reason to spend so much money on the latter when this is almost certain all that they would need, provided they understand that this spork WILL break under enough pressure.
lighter than the titanium version
more aggressive cutting edge
roughly the same size as the titanium
high heat resistance
effective fork and spoon shapes
Colors stand out amidst all the black and camo that inevitably lives in your camping gear.
Finally had the chance to use it! After i used it, which I still prefer this device over others, I put it in my back pocket and sat down in my camp chair. It broke!!! I've never known a Light My Fire brand to buckle under such little pressure and am very sad about this. Guess i'll have to upgrade to the titanium once I can afford it. This is a big disappointment as the weight is not something I wanted to cary but I can't afford to lose my eating tool in the mountains again. The days of making my own chopsticks HAS to be over lol.
My husband really liked it though so we bought him another one at a park we were at. They were the same $2.99 we paid here.
I did/do like this spork. The "spoon on opposite side of the fork" design is much better than the traditional spork design. We used them for a bunch of meals when we were camping. I just wish these weren't so flimsy. Honestly the "knife" isn't of much use but doesn't cause any problems either.
Exactly what you'd want from reusable plastic utensil. the knife portion is maybe overselling it, as it doesn't really cut much that a metal fork wouldn't slice, but I don't ever need it to, it's great
