I'm a huge Test Kitchen fan, but I can't justify all those calories on a regular basis. The light and healthy versions are perfect. I have all three years (2010, 2011, and 2012) and also the Healthy Cooking Family Cookbook. The recipes taste fantastic. They use a lot of fresh herbs (I now have an herb garden), and produce. The only downside is that some of the recipes are duplicated from the Healthy Cooking Family Cookbook, but there are still lots of new recipes.

We have a number of cookbooks from America's Test Kitchen and they have all been first rate. This one is no exception. The results are consistently good. I enjoy the discussion about why things are done in a certain way.
My wife and daughter started on Weight Watchers a few months ago and are doing well on the program. In addition to having recipes that are lower in calories, they need to have other nutritional information in order to calculate the 'points', and this information is provided in this book. This was a win/win for me. My wife can maintain her diet and I can still get good tasting food that is enjoyable to prepare.
A great addition to our kitchen library.

If you are looking to watch your waist line, this book is fantastic. Everything is wonderful but you definitely should try the Baked Sole with herbs and bread crumbs and the quick chicken fricassee is to "die for." I have followed Chris Kimball's books and magazines since he got started...and then I was a size 32 waist. No longer...boo. But with this Light & Healthy 2012, I am working my back to the future!

Have the regular Test Kitchen Red Binder cookbook first. I loved the easy step by step directions and tips throughout the book. It was like a regular person was talking to you right in your own kitchen!... The recipes in this cookbook are a little more advanced and directions are not as clear or easy to follow as the Red Binder. However, the little extra effort required is certainly worth the results! I have tried many of the recipes and every one has been delicious and healthy. I am using new and different ingredients and combinations. Making and eating the dishes in this book has been a fun and taste pleasing adventure! Also interesting to read the process by which ATK turns a regular recipe into a light and healthy one. PS: For those who want to make stir fries even more light by omitting rice, try goggling a recipe for cauliflower rice Pilaf. Goes great and eliminates carbs plus is very tasty.

Have made many recipes and have shared with my daughter. This book has so many 'low cal' recipes that are delicious.
My husband is amazed what a great cook I am and doesn't even know he's eating healthy.

This is a wonderful cookbook. Great way to cut fat, carbs, and calories, and from such a reliable source as America's test kitchen.
