Review

"This is my first time reading anything by Samanthe Beck, and I know it won't be my last. Light Her Fire has everything you need for a steamy read. A sexy fireman, the good girl with a hidden wild side, and just enough town drama to keep the readers guessing. " -- Forever Reading Book Blog

"Probably one of the best Brazen titles I have ever had the pleasure of reading." -- Claire Robinson

"Talk about setting your pants on fire! Whoooo boy, Josh and Melody lit it up." -- Straight Shootin' Book Reviews"

I haven't read the first book in Samanthe's Private Pleasures series yet, but I have every intention of fixing that soon. Even having not read the first book, this story stands all on its own. I didn't feel like I'd missed anything – except what I'm assuming is another sweet and sexy read.

Light Her Fire is the story of good girl Melody and playboy fire chief Josh Bradley. Melody is fresh out of a failed engagement with a man she dated for two years. Josh is new to the small town of Bluelick and can't wait to serve his time and get back to the city. It was a career move and he has no intention of staying in the country. It's not the life he wants for himself. Melody, on the other hand, is Bluelick born and raised and can't imagine living anywhere else. After her failed engagement, Melody is looking for some passion. She propositions Josh in the grocery store (SUCH a great scene!) and they dive head-first into hot and heavy sexy times that could easily set off fire alarms. Of course, along the way, they come to realize they might mean a little more to each other than just bedroom (and office and car and kitchen) fun. But, can they compromise and make things work, since they want different things out of life?

I loved these characters so freaking much. Melody was easy to relate to and Josh was so sexy and swoony that I just couldn't get enough of him. Together? These two were golden. I loved how they played off each other. Opposites attract and they certainly did here. They were combustible.

My favorite scene in the book wasn't a sexy one, believe it or not. (Not that they weren't all smoking hot, a little out of the box and fantastic.) Instead, there was a great scene between Josh and Melody's nieces.

Oh my! I want my own Josh. He is absolutely amazing and sweet. He had such good intentions throughout the book, even though his thought process and the conclusion he came to was absolutely male. I loved how he and Melody came back to one another and get the HEA. I want more of this wonderful small town.

There is a few sneak peaks regarding Josh and Melody in the first book of this series. You see a glimpse of their coupling, but in Light Her Fire, Ms. Beck really turned the heat up in the most delicious of ways.

Melody Merritt is trying to make up for ten years of an engagement that left her feeling vulnerable in a sexual inadequate way. She wants passion. She wants to be desired, but most of all she's tried of being labeled a "good girl". She looks for casual in the hottest places in town, the fire house.

Josh Bradley is a ambitious, city boy with a craving for action. He accepted the position as fire chief in Bluelick as a means to learn and then move on. He's not looking to settle. He doesn't like small towns where everyone knows your name and your business. That is, until his eye catches the sexy, sultry Miss Bluelick. He doesn't do good girls, but for Melody Merritt, he's willing to try just what the little town has to offer.

Melody and Josh really ignited my attention. The scenes were, HOT!! The characterization had an easy flow. A small portion of this book is intertwined with the first book, so it was nice to see and revisit with the characters from before. Really this is a must read if you like a story with a realistic, romantic, sexy flare.

If you haven't read anything by Samanthe Beck, start with Private Practice. Although you could read this as a stand - alone, meeting Jake and Ellie first will help with the backstory.

Josh is a yummy fireman who moves to Bluelick. Melody has just spent 10 years engaged to a man only to discover that he wants to bat for the other team.

This was a cute story, but almost too similar to the late 20's heroine needing to up her sexual game from Private Practice. The mystery part of this story fell a little flat.

Surprised at how good the cover is for Beck's first book compared to this one.

Hands down, Samanthe Beck is my all-time favorite Brazen author! She has a wicked sense of humor, which comes across in her books and makes a well-written erotic romance all the more enjoyable.

“Josh Bradley almost groaned out loud as he watched Melody run slim, busy fingers over every single cucumber in the “Five for $5” bin. He dumped a bag of apples into his cart without tearing his attention from those nimble hands, which were currently stroking one cucumber so thoroughly he was going to have a bystander orgasm right there between the Galas and the Granny Smiths...

She stood on the opposite side of the produce section, staring at him with an expression that had his c*¢k doing its best impression of a tower ladder.

Then again, who could blame him? What red-blooded man with a pulse wouldn’t have a little cucumber envy right now?”

Bluelick, Kentucky, isn’t exactly the hotbed of action firefighter Josh Bradley was hoping for when he transferred from Cincinnati to fast track his career. With no chance of advancement until the chief retired, which the man showed no sign of doing, he'd stalled out in the CFD. But moving to sleepy Bluelick to become fire chief had been a mistake. If the last three months had proved one thing beyond a shadow of a doubt—he was a city boy. He needed action. Something in short supply in Bluelick. In fact, the only thing that had raised his temperature since arriving is resident good girl Melody Merritt. A head-turner by any standard, she practically personifies the place with her deep-rooted family tree and small-town sensibilities. Yet, something in her lake blue eyes makes him wonder just what’s underneath that prim and proper exterior of hers...
