3.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Art!!! Horrible Cardstock! Check Updates. (Added Update*) + (Update**)
By Stefanie on December 3, 2019
To Chris-Anne, Bravo in the release of your hard work through a publisher! To Hay House, Boo in the horrible choice in card stock. I am highly disappointed in the flimsy card stock used to present this wonderful art work with its well executed visual messages. I did not know about these cards until recently, or I would have happily purchased them during the fund raising process, because all of the videos that I have watched and drooled over have reported Great Card Stock, shuffles easy, Beautiful work, etc.
The card stock that I received looks and feels cheap, and the "die cut" curls a bit inward on the Image side, indicating that they were cut/punched with the backs facing up. I wouldn't dare shuffle these cards, because I know from experience that these are likely to chip on the edges very easily.
I also noticed that the cards have strange bends throughout this deck, further causing me to think more about not shuffling them for fear of premature damage.
The box is beautiful! The book looks well done, however, I have not opened it because unfortunately I am going to return the cards I have anxiously awaited, and stick it out for a renewed and much better cardstock. You can do it Hay House! I KNOW you can!
Meanwhile, Chris-Anne, thank you for all of your gorgeous work, and I look forward to getting this beloved deck again in the near future.

UPDATE* Hay House has promptly contacted me about a replacement deck for early next year 2020! I am very grateful, and I look forward to enjoying my new and long awaited cards. I have got the good FEELS! I will update after receiving.

UPDATE ** Hay House replacement deck arrived just shortly after the new year, and I am pleased with the communication and the quality of this deck! The cardstock has a similar look as the original mass produced deck, only it is a tad thicker, therefore more durable. No bends, no inward curled edges, and cards are flush cut! Yea!!!
I waited a little while before doing this update because I wanted to work with this deck a bit to test durability because I am not used to shuffling this type of cardstock. It has what I might call a high quality cardboard look and feel, much like the cardboard decals that come with some toys, or the very old paper doll punch out sets from the 70's. (Yep, I am that old.) The images look fantastic, same as before, they shuffle well, I shuffle the cards face side up (when using the rifle shuffle method) because that is the way of least resistance; the paper grain works easiest that way. Otherwise, if I rifle shuffle face down the cards are stiff and slap downward in chunks.

Overall, I am happy with my replacement deck.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Art. Sadly, horrible card stock in the initial run. See UPDATE 1/23/20.
By Amazon Customer on December 3, 2019
Update! Hay House replaced my deck with one from the new batch - received the new deck today. It is excellent! No bend, cut perfectly, and much stiffer card stock. Looks like quality issues with the first run have all been fixed - I am so pleased because it truly is a gorgeous deck.

Original - I love these cards and am keeping them in spite of the horrible, flimsy card stock. I will just have to be very gentle. But I love them already, so won’t return them.
My deck has the “bend” others mention - also, half the deck is cut larger by a slight margin (cups, swords, pentacles) I would definitely have rejected this batch if I were the QA person! So disappointing for those of us who adore the artwork and for Chris Anne who was so excited and rightfully expecting better from Hay House. She should have signed on with a better publisher - one that would consistently produce the type of gorgeous deck her artistry deserves.

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING DECK!! Give it a chance, I love it!!
By The_Deviant_Witch on December 5, 2019
I have been reading the other reviews here and I am totally shocked!! My deck came PERFECT! No cards bend or torn or misshapen. All the artwork is stunning! And yes, the cardstock is a tad on the lighter side, but this deck was $22...c'mon..It still shuffles and works beautifully for tarot. It might not last 100 years of use, but you will get your $22 bucks worth!! The artwork itself is amazing, even if you just framed the cards and used for viewing! (Or even meditation) I CANT BELIEVE THAT PEOPLE ARE GIVING THIS DECK 1 STAR!!! That's totally not fair to the creator! They don't deserve this!!! They did a great job!! It even comes with a hard box! (LETS REMEMBER PEOPLE, MOST DECKS COME WITH A FOLD OVER BOX!!) I don't think the minor issue of the thickness of the cards should amount to all this negative reviews! I preordered this deck and when I got it I was interested to see how many 5 star reviews it would so quickly get, and to my surprise, the total opposite! That's why I am writing this review because I want to try and even the score a bit. I LOVE THIS DECK! It is in my top 3 of favorite decks, and I own about 25.

2.0 out of 5 stars Amazing artwork, terrible quality control issues
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 9, 2019
I'd been looking forward to the commercial release of this deck. The artwork is absolutely beautiful, it's great to see a very different but still recognisable take on the tarot. Sadly, the artist has been let down by her publishers. The card quality is appalling. It looks like the fronts of the deck are smaller than the backs so the edges have curled. The edges are very rough, the cards look like one half of the deck has been cut on one machine and one on another, so they are different sizes. And there are creases in the cards! I've been in touch with the publisher who said another run is expected in Feb 2020, so my advice is, wait for that!

3.0 out of 5 stars Thin cardstock, lovely images
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 4, 2019
The deck images and guidebook are gorgeous, the artist did an amazing job. The -2 points are for the cardstock. The box itself is good quality but the cards are so thin! They are more like thick paper than card. Hay House really need to look at their print quality, it is a real disservice to this deck to not use decent cardstock. I can't riffle shuffle these as they bend way too much.

They are also slightly irregularly cut. This concerns me as poorly made goods tend to be from factories where workers are poorly treated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 5, 2019
I know some people have had quality control problems with this deck but mine arrived in perfect condition. They're beautiful and vivid. I've only been learning tarot for about a year so I'm still having to look things up a lot but the art work on these has already made some things click in a new way and all I've done is go through to check all 78 cards are present! I'm really happy with these and I can't wait to start using them.
