I hate spoilers so I don't do them, this story will take you through a range of emotions, love, loss, anger and more but that's what I love about it, it can make you feel.
Issa's relationship with Jesse was one I could relate to and I'm sure many of you who read this may see a bit of yourself in Issa. It starts out so subtle but then you get the whole picture and think wow how could she allow this to happen.
I loved Alex. He's a real man, not a self centered boy like Jesse. I don't know how many times I was on edge when Jesse would enter Issa's life again trying to get her to choose him. I despised Jesse from about halfway through the book on. I kept thinking get a life Jesse.
I can't give any more detail without giving away more than I want to, this book was great, I loved the family relationship issues, the emotion and story are not out of this world, their possible, this story is a bit of a tearjerker at times but well worth the read.
"A deeply emotional story about first loves, finding oneself and healing wounds left behind by things that are simply out of our control. Breathtaking, heart pounding and gut wrenching but an unbelievably beautiful and gratifying read" - Angie's Dreamy Reads
As I sit to write this review tears are streaming down my face and my heart is bursting, but aching intensely at the same time. This book was gut wrenching and one I'll never forget. There's nothing on earth like a love story (I'm a romance junkie) but a love story and a story about finding oneself along the way is not only breathtaking but incredibly thought provoking. There are so many lessons we learn in life. So many hurts, heart aches and bruises we gather and collect along the way but if in the end we come out learning that those hardships are worth it and there's happiness, joy and wisdom on the other side then at the end of the day every trying, intense and painful moment is worth it. This book has taught me an invaluable lesson about reading, character development and also plot. That lesson is, "don't judge a book until you know the full story and have read that final page." I was too quick to judge, too harsh and because of that I almost missed out on one of the best books I've ever read. There are so many bits and pieces to this incredible book. So many facets to this brilliant journey that I strongly recommend you read it and give it a chance. It's painful, intense, beautiful, and honest, one of my favorite reads of 2013. If you're looking for something that goes a little deeper, stirs your thoughts and pulls on you emotionally... then this is it. It's a book that leaves you uncomfortable, a little squirmy inside but it's honestly hard to put down. There's a love triangle, angst, a troubled home life for this woman but also joy. I don't know how to describe it. It's memorable. It's incredible. It's brilliant. It's a book that sits on my favorite's shelf.

Christine Brae . . . DEBUT NOVEL Can't be? , Are you sure? Amazing! I am in Wow-derment (← Is that even a word). I pretty much highlighted the whole book.
Never. There's a finality to the word
We are taken on quite a ride with Isabel and go through the experiences with her. I felt I was right by her side when she is faced with her firsts, losses, heartaches, and accomplishments. I caught myself so involved and had to constantly remind myself that Isabel along with the other MCs were fictional. I wanted to support and protect her, steer her in the right direction, making the right choices. God knows, her mother was not a role model and her father was never in the picture.
There is unconditional love that forgives no matter how much hurt is thrown your way
When you love someone, their happiness elates you and their sorrow kills you
Isabel, a young lady, privileged, beautiful, smart and her life was just perfect. Money was never a problem. It was all a facade. Her relationship with her mother, Claudia was not what it was cracked-up to be. Claudia's priority in life was money and her love of painkillers. All Isa ever wanted was love and acceptance. She was determined to find the right person to fill this void in her life. She didn't want to feel lost and alone.
Being owned means never being alone
Jesse . . . my first impression of him was persuasive, can put on the charm, controlling and ALWAYS gets what he wants and makes his claim known.
You're always covering yourself up. You fed him his self-confidence and he took away yours
As you can tell I was NOT fond of him. Half the time, I wanted to beat the living daylights out of him with my Kindle, but then that would not be fair . . to my E-Reader. He was wanted to go places, achieve the utmost goals in life and be ever so successful. All for a girl named Isabel.
Alex - - - fell in love with him the moment he stepped on the scene. He is gorgeous in so many ways, and not talking about his looks. Mix in some qualities Respectful, a protector, loving and caring. It was love at first sight for Alex when he came across Isabel. But he believed her heart was already taken.
You will be so engrossed in the lives of each and every character that graces the pages. Turmoil is the feeling you will have in the pit of your stomach and your emotions are tested the very end.
Will Isabel choose Jesse, the first love of her life ? Or Alex ?
The most painful thing is losing yourself in he process of loving someone too much and forgetting that you are special too
Ms. Brae's story gripped my soul and affected me tremendously. The story was so real and emotional. I was astounded by the fact that this was her first story. Outstanding job!! I cannot wait for more works from her.
Dive into the world of Isabel, Jesse and Alex . . . it will be an experience you will never forget
