This is a beautifully crafted book. It has obviously been put together with care. The pop-ups are well done and work perfectly. The illustrations are stunning, soft and lovely. There is a well researched history about each lighthouse, even the binding and cover show that it is special. While it is not a book for a young child, older children who are interested in this subject or know any of the buildings should enjoy it. Any adult who is interested in lighthouses will definitely want this book. For a collector of pop-up books it is a wonderful addition to any collection.

This book is wonderfully produced and expertly executed. The pop-ups are detailed, and the accompanying text is very informative. Perfect for any lighthouse lover. This is not a child's pop-up, by any means. My purchase was a gift for my mom, who was very pleased.

Any fan of lighthouses who wants a keepsake edition to admire which is far more 3-D than your typical lighthouse book needs Lighthouses: A Pop-Up Gallery of America's Most Beloved Beacons. It represents paper art at its finest and is a top pick for both pop-up and lighthouse fans, presenting maritime landmarks in thee-dimensional forms and accompanying these with color photos and discussions of each structure. It's a gorgeous presentation that will make a lovely gift for any lighthouse enthusiast.

This is a great book for people who collect Lighthouse collectables. The actually number of lighthouses displayed is small but then this book is as much about the art of pop up as it is about lighthouses history. So Great Fun if you take it is is a Pop up of some lighthouses and a brief overview of American lighthouses second.

This pop-up book has nice pop-ups of lighthouses, but they are not elaborate or elegant. Maybe lighthouses are themselves generally simple in design, so that the possibility of more elaborate pop-ups are simply limited, as compared to pop-up books for holidays, animals, or scenery. Each section does seem to have well written accompanying text, which gives a historical perspective of light houses.

I purchased this book for my brother-in-law who is very interested in lighthouses. I was especially excited to read in the description that the Cape Hatteras lighthouse was one of the pop-ups ("Pop-ups include some of the most famous landmarks in the country: Cape Hatteras Light, North Carolina's distinctive black-and-white barber ...") since we vacation there every summer. Unfortunately, the Cape Hatteras Light was not a pop-up, but a picture. I was disappointed, but he still enjoyed it.
