I'm getting a bit tired of the sex and the attitude. Never thought I'd actually think that, but there it is. Aside from that, Trygger is seeming to become less of an awesome dark hero and more of a troubled prick with good moments. I do like learning more of his past, though, because I'm starting to get him a bit more. By the end of this book I was back to liking him again, but that doesn't mean his little head isn't doing lots more thinking than the big head and is winning me over, because it's not.
I'm glad for Chloe, though. She's growing and progressing and becoming much more of the woman I want to see her become. She's blossoming and I like her. Her proximity to Trygger and Jack is affecting them, thank goodness, so she's really becoming part of the cast and not just a hanger-on that whines and stomps her feet.
This book was much more dramatic and the plot keeps thickening. We learn to doubt our belief in some and trust more in others and it's keeping me on my toes. There are also new characters that hint toward big things to come. There's more mythology here too, but I thought there'd be a bit more explanation by now of all the levels and creatures and types and...well, just all the stuff that goes into this whole world. I didn't get a ton in the first book and I thought it was because everything was so new, it was going to be explained a bit more in the second book. Well, not so, my friend, not so. That's a bit disappointing, but not enough to turn me off of the series yet.
Excited for more! I got this book free from the author and very willingly reviewed it.
The author does an amazing job of weaving mythology, a world of past and present together in this amazing fast paced urban fantasy. There are funny moments between Jack, Chloe and Trygger bantering and bickering between themselves and some emotional moments when Trygger gets to remember his past.
All in all a great , fast paced read. I am waiting for the third book to come out.
What a great follow up to the first book!! I so enjoyed how Even Jack evolved from completely sleezy to an ok friend . I'm glad Freya's gal Chole has mellowed she was much more enjoyable! Norse mythology at its best the author has kept me on my toes trying to figure out just exactly what the Gods are up to! Our hero The Thunder Hunter thought his mission was pretty straight forward but new information makes him wonder if he's just a pawn and wether or not he will finally return to Thor the powers he has held safe . Full of great action even better characters as well as the everlasting fight between good and evil. If mythology is your cup of teas then this series is a pot full!!!
Lightning Seeker is Book 2 in the Viking Soul series. I am reading them slightly out of order so my reviews are out of order as well. This was a well written continuation of the series - as the author is British and the book takes place in London you will find a lot of British terminology and spelling (which as a Canadian makes no difference to what I am used to). I found the the book to be entertaining and it filled in some blanks I had after reading book 3 Storm Guardian - I highly recommend reading them in order as it makes a lot more sense and is a lot easier to follow the action but definitely read them if you have an interest in Urban fiction or Mythology as this is a great take on both
With more action and intrigue, this picks up where we left off in Thunder Hunter. Trygger is continuing to train Chloe, and Jack is well Jack. After 1000 yrs on earth, cracks are beginning to show in Trygger, his humanity is slowly seeping through his toughened exterior. Jack is Trygger's info guy, but is he giving Trygger all the info he has collected?? And if not, why not??
Another great read with magic, deities, Norse mythology, action and a hint of sexual tension, you won't want to put this down!!
I voluntarily read and advanced readers copy of this book
