If you don't own an older version, then you have to buy the full version.
When LR 4 comes out, you can upgrade at the lower price, but you have to start with a full version.

Hi Jessica,

"Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 Upgrade" is not the full Lightroom 3 program. It is an upgrade that you could use if you already owned LR2 and want to upgrade to LR3.
"Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3" is the full version of the program. You can install this without having anything else already.
Assuming you do not already have a previous version of LR, you should buy and install only "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3".

So is there a lightroom coming out? Should I just buy that one?

There will be yearly upgrades most likely just like the rest of their products.
There is a HUGE improvement in LR 3 vs 2 and anything else will be incremental IMHO.
I would get 3.
I bought 3 and bought presets from another photographer and the presets make LR so much easier to use.

You probably won't see LR 4 until Christmas or next Spring
