Really cute children's book with colorful pictures. Small sentences (actually more like phrases rather then sentences) .. Great for little ones learning to read. Easy and entertaining.
Rhyming throughout the book.
Would be a wonderful gift item
Great for a little one who is afraid of bug or who really likes insects

These Step 1 series are recommended for preschool-K - the stories are in large type and the vocabulary is easy. The stories are also in a rhyming format which makes them easy and fun to read. The full color pictures also provide contextual clues as to the word being used in the text. These early readers have raised my daughter's confidence level in reading, and she is doing so well that I'm purchasing the Step Two books (Preschool-Grade 1). I use these books in conjunction with sight words to reinforce her recognition of common vocabulary.
I would have liked the book better if proper names or identification had been given/listed for the various bugs as well. Ex: Lady bugs are the only bug listed by name. Otherwise, everything else is "green bugs," "mean bugs," "big bugs" "small bugs." I just use this as an opportunity to teach the proper names of the bugs when asked or we encounter one (that is hopefully met outside our home).
