In Like a Memory we meet the children of our favorite couples from Sea Breeze and Rosemary Beach but do not fear if you haven’t read those series because you can totally read this one as a standalone and you will enjoy it just the same.
This one is about Nate and Bliss, they met when they were younger and then at 15 they had a bit of a summer romance, Nate thought it was more than that but when Bliss stopped returning his texts and calls he gave up. Years have gone by and now he is back on the beach town where he met Bliss and it seems like fate when they meet again, only this time is different because Nate is engaged to Bliss’s boss.
Now if you like me don’t care for love triangles then don’t fret because this book does not have one, I know Nate’s engaged and I don’t really know how to explain it but it never felt like a love triangle it felt like Nate and Bliss from the very beginning and it stayed that way throughout the book.
The book is exactly what I love about Abbi’s writing, it was sweet, sexy and full of angst (not too much angst, just the right amount) and it also had that quality that I’ve come to associate with Abbi, what quality is that you ask? Well, it’s the fact that you can’t stop reading!!!
There are so many more characters that I want to know about and I’m sure Abbi is going to give them amazing stories!
Bliss York was hoping for a normal life after her past was robbed from her due to sickness. She was back in Seabreeze in hopes of finding happiness like she had the summer she spent there at 15! Bliss was about to find out her past was closer then she thought.
Nate Finley wanted a simple and easy life. He was back in Sea Breeze to help his Fianceè Octavia open her new business. And to take a break from the stresses of Rosemary Beach. But being back brought it's own challenges. Nate quickly realised his simple easy life wasn't really so simple. What he thought he wanted he didn't want anymore.
Like A Memory brought all the feels. It was a emotional roller coaster of emotions! Its chemistry burned off the pages! This book breaks your heart one minute and leaves you swooning the next! A definite must read!
..yet he was engaged.. say what??!! I began to wonder about Blair and Rushs parenting. And Octavia character?? What?? She went from being snotty and stuck up to let's feel sorry for her...um. no.....it was ridiculous! And Bliss..girl GROW some balls and pride. You were like a puppy dog to Nate. So weak and whiny!! She was NOTHING like Eva. Ok and don't get me started on the exaggerated kid names..Saffron..Holland?? You lost me with all the kid names, forgot who they be longed to. We needed a family tree inserted somewhere. And they all hung out at the same bar like their parents did back in the day???!! Really!! All this book was a little of each your old books with different character names. Let's be honest. Bliss was Low/and girl Marcus loved in other book, Eli (he was so stupid!) was his dad Marcus, Micah and his friends were a repeat of Rock, Preston and friends. Lila Kate was Harlow, and guy she hated was Grant..complete repeat!! Saffron was girl tramp version of her dad. It was absolutely RIDICULOUS! Thank goodness this book was NOT $7.99. Next time stick to simple easy names and please please get an editor to proof read it before you hit publish.
Like a memory is everything I hoped it would be! Bliss was a strong female. I loved her need for independence and loved her interaction with Nate! It was also exciting to see Blaine, Rush, Cage and Eva again.
Highly recommend this book!!
