I Like Old Clothes Hardcover – August 14, 2012
From Booklist
Review
Starred Review, School Library Journal, June 2012:
“The imaginative child’s enthusiasm is infectious–kids might well be inspired to ask for secondhand outfits themselves…. The overall effect is a visual celebration of old clothes.”

About the authors

My artistic talents were first discovered at the age of three, when I was found creating a mural on the dining room wall with a pastry brush and a can of Crisco. Although the work itself was never fully appreciated by my parents, my interest in art was. They quickly gave me a better canvas and more appropriate supplies. My passion for art grew, and I earned a BFA in studio art from the University of Texas in Austin, where I live now with my husband, son and good dog Archer.
My clients include Alfred A. Knopf, G.P. Putnam's Sons, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Harper Collins, Atheneum, Dial, Roaring Brook Press, Farrar, Straus and Giroux Books for Young Readers, Scholastic Book Club, Ideals Children's Books, Ladybug Magazine, Clubhouse Jr. Magazine, Highlights, Highlights High Five, and more.

Mary Ann Hoberman is a poet and the critically acclaimed author of many books for children, including the beloved A House Is a House for Me, which won a National Book Award. Clothes with a mystery,
Sweaters and shirts
that are brother-and-sistery."
Just the right message, with soft illustrations which--appropriately--incorporate little recycled, collaged bits of fabric textures and patterns, and notions.
Pair this with I Had a Favorite Dress , by Boni Ashburn and Julia Denos.
I so enjoyed the content of the book. It reminds me of my family growing up in the 1950's.
Thanks you,
mary
