- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2024Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThe book is as engaging as a work of fiction. I read it thirty-two years ago before visiting this region of Papua New Guinea. Now I'm re-reading it upon my return to the Papuan Plateau. I recommend reading either Hides's patrol report or his book, Papuan Wonderland, before taking up this work.
You will find the book especially interesting if you have a personal connection to one of the areas of PNG that are discussed here.
