Lily's Deep Sea Creatures: A Combat-Fishing (R) Book Paperback – February 9, 2012
From the Author
There is a sparsely explored world of wonderful life that sits below 1000 feet in all the oceans. It is a dark place, lit by biological lights, subsisting on a 'snow' of dead animals and plants, and wastes from the lit ocean above. If you did a bit of math, you could find out that on average 1.2 billion cubic miles is barely explored, enough water to cover the whole moon 83 miles deep. To explore this world, we have used sonar, robots, remote cameras on oil rigs and dropped from above, and brave people in submarines. I synthesize as much of the current state of the art as possible, with some of my own observations from multi-day and shorter trips offshore, texts, and aquariums. As a result, I drew the fishes and other species as best as I could, enough to be scientifically relevant. I learned lots making this work, as I do in all my works, and I hope you do too.
