About the Author
Limerence, recommended Indie paranormal book in The Guardian in 2013
Claire C Riley, is taking horror back to its roots, incorporating an old school style of horror and romance. Sexy and dark. (Think Bram Stokers Dracula,George Romero zombies and old school slasher gore.)
Her works include vampires, zombies, demons, ghosts and anything a little different. However she reads nearly every genre imaginable, believing that you should never stick to your comfort zones. She also likes to write characters which aren't instantly likeable, isn't that like real life?
Claire is a mother to three amazing little girls who hold her heart.
She is an avid book collector and has a great zombie apocalypse plan in place thanks to a questionnaire she asked her readers to fill in for her from her blog.
Claire is currently working on the sequel to Limerence, the sequel to Odium and a crime horror, along with a ton of short stories to be released in anthologies very soon.
She actively encourages reader participation on her blog and author Facebook page, with questionnaires, quizzes, and fan art. So get in touch!

Mia is caught between her loving and devoted fiance Oliver and his boss Mr.Breckt...who just happens to be a very old vampire with an extreme infatuation for Mia.
Limerence is lusty, sensual, romantic and I love that the author makes you feel for all of them...even when things become evil and twisty.
If you want a vampire romance that is more adult and not as PG rated as Twilight...this book is for you! It reads very quickly and you will fall in love with this fresh take on vampire love and possession.
***** 5 ***** "I want YOU to want ME forever" stars =)
This was a suggested read from a friend and I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but the characters are fully tangible and well plotted. Also, as soon as I thought I had Limerence figured out I would gladly be surprised by something new I never suspected. Heart, passion and horror play well here. Mia's character played perfectly against the novel's main Vampire, Mr. Breckt.
By far my favorite scene in Limerence was when we witness a mortal's transformation to Vampire form. I'm never read a scene of this type done so well before. It was haunting and I could not look away.
My suggestion is to pick up Limerence now. I couldn't put down this seducing Vampire Romance.
Right off, I loved Ollie-who wouldn't? "I love you so much, Mia.I just wanted to protect you, that's all I ever wanted. All I ever tried to do." Oliver meant well, thought he was doing the right thing, but his first mistake was to think you could trust a vampire.
Mia, I thought she was okay at first, nothing special maybe even a little weak but the more I read and got to know her the more I saw that she was Special and very very strong willed.
Mr.Breckt, our undeniable vampire(or so you would think)- I wanted to connect to him,to be enthralled by him, but that never happened- "I'm not used to coming in second,Mia.I'm a very sore loser." Well maybe in the end I felt something-maybe pity? But it was a little too late for that.
The Mia we met in the beginning isn't the Mia we have at the end. No, she is something much more lethal.
"I'm a vampire.A hunter.A temptress.I'm not going to be the good girl any longer."
Ms. Riley's Limerence is in the fine tradition of Stoker and Anne Rice. The erotic element of vampire stories has been around since Varney the Vampire and, of course, Dracula. In Limerence, the sexual heat burns at blast furnace temperatures. Never has this aspect of the genre been more deftly handled.
Yet there's more than sex to this tale. There is love and suspense and more than a bit of the supernatural. The scene of one character being "turned" is the most effective rendition of becoming a vampire that I have ever read.
Don't expect Limerence to deliver a black and white narrataive, a simple tale of evil vs. good. Everything is ambiguous in this story, including the ending. Another interesting and unusual aspect of the book is its use of multiple first person narratives.
In short, there's something for everyone here, whether you want a horror story, a sexy read, or a book with some technical complexity. Highly recommended!
Mia Lawrence has long, deep black hair and extraordinary blue eyes. She's sweet and kind...giving and caring. She's engaged to Oliver Walsh. The sun rises and sets for her, when it comes to Oliver.....and he adores her. But something sinister has moved into their town and has become obsessed with Mia.
He's tall, dark and deadly with mesmerizing green/blue eyes. Robert Breckt appears to be about 30 y/o but he's a vampire of well over 200 years, with the powerful ability to get whatever and whomever he wants. He see's what he wants and takes it. He's captivating, controlling, commanding and arrogant. He's charming, obnoxious and demanding. And never in his long existence has anyone been able to overcome his hypnotic pull....until now. Until Mia....his obsession. Robert Breckt has an agenda to fulfill for his Queen --- and he's unable to move forward because Mia has taken over his every thought. She's consuming him. The craving he feels for her is unlike anything he's ever known and it's crippling him...driving him slowly insane.
This fabulous author ever so adeptly paces us through the happy relationship of Mia and Oliver...of the solid, mutual love they hold. And then steadily begins to inflict doubt in their lives with a hint of the evil truth that walks among them. She takes the reader to the depths of fear that Mia experiences....and the angst that she fights through when she's surrounded by an evil influence. Ever so slowly, Ms. Riley brings the powerful vampire to his knees and reveals so perfectly, the turmoil he's experiencing over the fierce hold Mia has on him.
This story captivates in such a way that it's impossible to put down. The reader will become consumed with the frightful plight of Mia and Oliver in little time. However, I'm just one of those readers that needs to be let down gently with a happy ending...and this story, albeit fabulous, didn't do that for me. It did not leave me feeling good. It left me feeling deeply saddened and depressed. It's just not my genre.
