-Feels really cheapily made
-Setup very combersome. Had to end up using a laptop to connect to WiFi
-Light animation is mediocre
-Overall performance is sub par
-USB connection doesn't feel very stable
-Supplied instruction or website say nothing about what the "mode" button does.
-No stand or way to keep it stationary in the correct upright position
-No volume control or way to increase volume of the speaker

I am a destiny collector and I would say this is definitely not worth the price tag. The purpose of this review is to prevent people from getting ripped off and paying nearly $100 for something so terrible.

Based on the product description i thought that this would be a speaker and microphone and as long as it was connected to the same network as an Amazon Echo it would work. It is not. It is just a speaker and it requires an Echo in the same room to work as a microphone. Other than eye candy you’re better off buying an Echo dot for much less than this. Setup instructions are straight forward and easy to follow. The problem is that after you complete the setup the Ghost is not connected to your network anymore and the Echo is the one that responds to you in the Ghosts voice. This is a very expensive product for what it is. It should have been a full blown Echo Device or at the least a limited one that would only accept commands related to the Destiny 2 skill. Once again Bungie over hyped a product and greatly under delivered. I don’t give it less than 1 star because I cant but it doesnt even deserve the star. This will go back into the box and returned...or should I just dismantle it for weapon parts or bright dust.

You'll have two pieces of paper in the box with the device, one with set up instructions and another that says (essentially) "Don't use those instructions, go to this URL instead". Guess which one I didn't see?

What the instructions don't tell you: One flip of the switch in back simply restarts the device. 10 flips resets it to factory default. But 5 flips downloads new firmware (once you've connected it to WiFi) and that's the ONLY way I could get it to work. Also, you have to start from scratch once you disconnect it from power, so set it up where it will live.

But set up gripes aside, telling it to save my current gear as my "Strike Loadout" (or "Raid" or "Crucible") is awesome. There are some limitations, as you need to be in orbit or the tower for it to work (not on patrol or active mission). What I like more than anything else is that it lights up and pulsates as Ghost speaks, just like in the game.

The all black color of it makes it look like a blank. It does not have any texture. It is just plain plastic. If I saw this in game I would assume there was a bugged ghost skin. They could have at least included decals to put on it. It just looks like it was rushed to packing before it could be painted.

It's a cheap speaker. It doesn't have its own mic so you have to have it pretty close to an Echo for use or else the Echo just does the Ghost dialogue through the Echo itself. The speaker in it was okay enough to hear the dialogue.

The documentation is lacking. It doesn't tell you what the mode button does.

Things I wish it had:

I wish you could at least activate by just saying "Ghost" instead of the relaying through Alexa. I feel that could be remedied in the app or something simply by having the Echo know that when I say "Ghost, what is my clan status?" that it knows I mean the ghost and kicks it over to that ghost app.

I wish it had Bluetooth and mic so that I could at least use it as a speaker phone and thus give me some value for what I paid.

I wish it was painted.

I think this would be appropriately priced at around $49. That's steep in some respects but I feel that's a fair price for what was delivered and still understanding I am paying a premium for it being a game prop.

*An afterthought: Considering an Echo Dot is full price $49. I totally would have been happy paying $89 for a Ghost with the same guts and functionality as an Echo Dot. Even if the device ended up larger in scale than in game. (I have seen online 3D printed Echo Dot cases that look like Ghost.)

Please do not waste your money on this. For the price you can get several extra Echo Dots or even a second gen Echo and it will sound so much better. I was hoping this would be a nice item to add to my collection, but sadly it looks to be a cheaply made, rushed product. I will be returning and may purchase when these inevitably go on clearance for $10.

1) The power light should be on the back, not a glaring red light on front. Distracts from the LED's.
2) No stand to hold it up, so any slight movement and this thing falls over faster than that guy who cant handle his drinks at the bar.
3) As others have stated, it is just plain black, some paint or even decals that you could apply would have been a nice touch.
4) The short cord that needs to be attached at all times could be longer.
5) The speaker is utter garbage, if the dots and google mini can fill a room with sound, an 80$ speaker should do the same.
6) Please see 1-5. DO NOT BUY THIS! It's a terrible cash grab attempt from Activision. Wait until they are practically giving them away in a couple months because everyone returned it.

Destiny fans beware, this product is very misleading. It’s only getting 2 stars because it’s a really cool desk piece. That’s where the cool factor ends. It has no stand to hold it up, it teeters on it’s little edges and falls over very easily. The lights, while shown constantly on in the picture, do not stay on in any way other than the blaring red dot letting you know it’s plugged in. On that note, it has to stay plugged in, CONSTANTLY. It does not hold a charge. And lastly, the speaker is super quiet. There’s no option to raise the volume. You will not hear this thing unless it’s within arms reach of you. So, Eyes Up Guardian, buy at your own risk.

Over-priced, misleading description, do not buy

Do not buy this device, if it worked, all it does is re-direct the Alexa Ghost skill response to this "speaker" so not only does it have to be in the same room as the Echo or you have to have an Alexa remote you also get a worse output as the speakers in the Echo devices (all of them) are far superior.

I couldn't get mine to work:

Once turned on you connect to its temporary network
Select wifi network (it didn't see mine, in fact it was a list of networks that didn't exist)
Failing that you manually input network (the security settings menu e.g. WPA/WPA2 and the like didn't populate)
It says success and then takes you to enabling the Alexa skill
Did this and then you activate the device using the ghost skill and the serial number

At this point it said "oh there you are" and then proceeded to continue using the Echo speaker as an output and this over-priced rip off just sat there inert.

I believe the product description is misleading, I was fooled into thinking it was actually another device that would not only make the ghost skill more fun but would also act as a normal extra Alexa device/speaker - it should for the money!

As everyone said already, this is NOT worth £80! All you need is echo and destiny skill. You can do the same. All Echo does is just pass the sound to the Ghost. You can’t even use this as a speaker.

I ordered 2 one for myself and a friend and we are both returning this. It’s cheap plastic and in my opinion should be worth £20-25 quid.

Of course for collectors this can be good to just be a good collectors item

I followed the instructions, I set it up to connect to my Wi-Fi but it's just permanently on standby. It's not even showing up on my router's connected devices list.

really disappointing as others have said feels like cheep plastic speaker is not verry loud at all you need ti have the thing right next to you , had to wait till echo dot arrived before i could review it , followed instructions and it connected right away to my network and dot with out any issues.
all and all i would have been better to buy a replica model as the speaker is pretty much useless you cant even play music through it, even if your a die hard destiny fan like me you will be disappointed in this
