About the author

Joel Fox's modern day mystery series featuring Senior FBI Special Agent Zane Rigby springs from strange historical events. The first book in the series, LINCOLN'S HAND, is connected to the actual attempt to steal Abraham Lincoln's body. In FDR'S TREASURE, Franklin Roosevelt's numerous fishing trips to the reported treasure laden Cocos Island off Costa Rica serve as the catalyst for the second book in the series.
His newest stand alone book, THE MARK ON EVE, is a supernatural suspense. Eve, bewitched in colonial New England, never aging, keeping her secret, is alive today helping the female governor of California run for president of the United States. Her secret could unravel and doom the presidential campaign when she steps in front of an assassin's bullet.
From Kirkus Reviews on THE MARK ON EVE: "...wholly satisfying ending. An intriguing novel..."
Fox likes to say he has a long rap sheet in California politics. For three decades he has been a taxpayer and small business advocate, served on numerous state commissions appointed by governors and assembly speakers from both major political parties, worked on many ballot issue campaigns, and advised a number of candidates. He is an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Public Policy at Pepperdine University.
Authoring hundreds of opinion pieces, Fox has been published in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and San Francisco Chronicle, as well as other newspapers and websites.
His non-fiction works include a book, THE LEGEND OF PROPOSITION 13, about California's most famous ballot measure, and a chapter in the book, WHAT BASEBALL MEANS TO ME, sanctioned by the Baseball Hall of Fame.
In 2008, Fox completed the Los Angeles FBI Citizens Academy program gaining a deeper understanding of the FBI and its mission.
Growing up in Massachusetts, Fox says he got his love of history breathing the air in the Boston area, often driving past the homes of the presidents Adams and visiting many historical sites.

The FBI Director, not pleased with his failure, shuffles him off to Springfield, Illinois, to check out a mummified hand, said to belong to Lincoln. The problem: this might be only part of the actual body of the great man. A ransom note accompanying the hand says pay up if the body is to be returned. Rigby is to check out the tomb to see who, if anybody, is buried in Lincoln's grave.
Thus starts the rather interesting journey with a little history tossed in and a lot of twists as Rigby tracks down the truth. Along the way he meets an old flame right in the thick of the intrigue. Will the passion rekindle or is the lady hiding a secret? A young woman is killed near the tomb and Rigby discovers lots of local people are hiding old and new secrets that could get more people killed before they find out who is buried in Lincoln's tomb.
But lurking in the background is the Monument Bomber who still has a card or two to play. This is the first in the series, so the Bomber has lots of places to threaten as Zane Rigby tracks him down. A great first novel. Looking forward to the next in the series.
Special Agent Zane Rigby of the FBI is committed to finding the "Monument Bomber" before he strikes another U. S. monument. Agent Rigby messed up the first attempt to capture the bomber, embarrassing the FBI. His boss, the new director of the FBI, has pulled him off the case and tasked him to other duties she thinks are unimportant.
His idea of duty does not let him drop the case. Murder, an old girlfriend, and a bombed truck complicate the case. Although he is older, he hasn't lost his ability to make good inferences from meager clues. The chase is on. The action is fast paced and the interaction of the characters' in the story kept pulling me along for the ride.
I like this character even with his flaws. I am looking forward to the next case for Agent Rigby.
At first, I tried to walk along Agent Rigby, remember the streets and all the sights. Quickly, however, I was immersed in the story and the growing web of mystery.
It was a great read with a very likable protagonist and lots of suspense. The final confrontation had me on the edge of my seat and I I simply could not put the book down until I knew the outcome.
For someone who just likes a good mystery book, this is a a wonderful read - for the Lincoln loving mystery fan it's a must have!
