About the Author

Linda McCartney (née Eastman) was born in New York in 1941. She took a photo course with Hazel Archer and studied art history at the University of Arizona before settling in New York City, where she began her photo career shooting rock portraits. Outside of her photography, which has been exhibited in over 50 galleries worldwide including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the National Portrait Gallery, London, the Bonni Benrubi Gallery, New York, and the International Center of Photography, New York, Linda McCartney is known for her passionate animal rights activism and her staunch vegetarianism. She wrote cookbooks and founded her own brand of frozen vegetarian meals, all the while raising a family, continuing to take photographs, and participating as a Wings band member alongside Paul McCartney. She died in 1998 at the age of 56.

Annie Leibovitz has been a working photographer for 40 years. She was the chief photographer for Rolling Stone and then the first contributing photographer for the revived Vanity Fair. In addition to her editorial work at Vanity Fair, and later at Vogue, she has created several award-winning advertising campaigns. She has been designated a Living Legend by the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.

Martin Harrison is a historian of art and photography and an exhibition curator. He worked with Linda McCartney on Roadworks (1996), Light from Within (2001), and her exhibitions at the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television in Bradford and the International Center of Photography in New York. He has published widely on photography and, most recently, on the paintings of Francis Bacon.

Alison Castle received a BA in philosophy from Columbia University and an MA in photography and film from New York University (NYU/International Center of Photography masters program). She is the editor of titles on photography, film, and design, including Some Like it Hot, The Stanley Kubrick Archives, Linda McCartney: Life in Photographs, and Marc Newson: Works.

I am surprised another book has come out of Linda McCartney's photos because of all the other books that Linda released when she was alive. There are several pictures in this book that have been released in those other books, but if you don't have many of them then this will be a nice book to have. This is an expensive book so see if you can find it through amazon. You should be able to get if for somewhere close to 40% off. With all the pictures Linda has taken over 40 years it would have been nice to get other pictures that haven't been released before, but this is a great book by a great photographer. Thank you Sir Paul for allowing this book to be released.

My whole family loves this book...I may have to buy multiple copies! A great collection of family photos, rock celebrity photos, landscapes, etc...just darn interesting! We are so sad that Linda is not here to capture the world through her lens...what a talented and devoted lady she was.

This book has been out less than a year and it is already out of print?
I don't understand it at all. At least give everyone a year to buy the book before it gets cut. It wasn't thrown together
haphazardly. It is a beautiful book that deserves a chance to be sold to all of Linda's fans.

Sure she uses the vehicle of the Beatles fame, but then again, they were the people in her life. Her work is stunning and insightful. It is now staying on my shelf as a work of anthropological photography, an important, well photographed view into a time and a culture.

The beautiful photograph book captures some iconic rock stars in intimate moments. Linda McCartney, wife of Paul McCartney and accomplish photographer takes you on a journey behind the veil of stardom and her family.
With texts from Annie Leibovitz, Paul McCartney, and the author to name a few, you are able to understand the composition of this work. The British invasion changed the musical landscape of America, but what McCartney photographs do is capture the moments when the world was in a whirl.
I enjoyed the private moments of her daughter and the funny gestures that Paul made at the camera. She notes in the opening passage "Shadows in light and shade seeing all things common or obscure I click."
This colorful book of larger than life photographs should be an ideal part of any diverse personal library.

Would have loved to see more intimate images.. Her portraits are great, but her family shots are by far the best and most moving.
