I grew up in Minnesota where I spent many long, cold winters making up stories, dreaming about becoming a writer, and traveling the world. Big imagination. But saner people urged me to attend the University of Minnesota where I studied behavioral science. But my dream of writing persisted, and after a move to Arizona, I earned a degree in journalism from Arizona State University. Since then, I've worked in a plethora of jobs from social services to magazine editor, and teaching novel writing at Bootcamp for Novelists. Oh...and writing lots of books...nineteen novels, with over a million sold worldwide in over a dozen different languages. I also wrote and co-wrote two non-fiction books on how to write a novel.
Since my first sale in 1999, my books have won several awards, including the Daphne du Maurier Award, and most recently, the Holt Medallion Award of Merit. I love to read thrillers, suspense, mystery and romance, and I try to write the types of books I like to read, complex, compelling stories with deep characterization...the kind you think about long after turning the last page. I write to entertain, but if I can enrich a few lives along the way, all the better.
When not writing or spending time with my family, I love to travel, take photographs, play tennis, and spend a bunch of time researching my books. Or I'll grab my camera and head for a hike in the Arizona mountains, the best place on the planet to dream up new stories...and marvel that someone actually pays me to have so much fun. I love to hear from readers and invite you to join me on Facebook and Twitter and visit my website at www.LindaStyle.com.
If you've read my books, I thank you, and I'd dearly love it if you could leave me a review. Reviews are a readers' way of finding an author's books...and when readers find my books, it keeps me another step away from living in my car. :-)
