I originally intended to use this for recording with Zoom H1 and Zoom H4n. I used a USB recording App on my Note 5 & Galaxy Tab S2 (tablet), got it to work, but only in 44.1 kHz / 16-bit mode on both my H1 & H4n. It did not present me with an option for 96kHz or 24bit. Both Zooms record 96 kHz / 24 bit, natively. So what's the point of downgrading to a phone/tablet? I'm not a musician, I don't need a mixer, but I guess I could see it as a remote console, but why not let the Audio recorder do what it does best? Record! For me, I can't come up with a good use case for USB recording on a phone/tablet until your phone does 24bit. Anyway, all that has nothing to do with the cable, the cable part worked.
But, what I did discover that's very useful, is file sharing !! In USB file mode, Android maps the drive from the Zoom audio recorder (these models each use 32Gb SDs), and I can upload directly to Dropbox. now that's cool. So, much like camera & photos, but with audio. Hadn't thought about sharing audio files in near real time. They're usually very small, so you don't even need WiFi as long as you don't have video that has to go with it.
Even at the house, with WiFi, I can upload w/o a computer and w/o messing with SD cards. Very Cool.
First of all, this is the very cable you need for that purpose, and at this time there are hardly any other cables that work, so its a necessity.
BUT, it is not perfect, and here is why: its cheaply made, the connectors are very weak and can literally bend with very little pressure. The wire seems OK, but is thin. After bending my first cord, i came back to Amazon to purchase another. Within a few months, this Lindy cord has now more than DOUBLED in price. Shame on you Lindy. Your product is just what i need and there is no alternative and you know it. But it isnt worth double the price for this cheaply made cord. Hopefully someone will give you some competition very soon, and i will heartily recommend them over you.
For starters, a better cord would have right-angle connectors on both ends, and not be so cheap as to fall apart with very little use.
Also if you have a memory card reader that uses a USB Mini you can also connect it to this cable -- thus your phone can read memory cards.

Sold by Lindy who have a reputation for quality and reliability; numerous prior purchases of various cables (Computer, Hi-fi and general purpose) confirm their claims.
I use this short cable to connect a Canon 70D DSLR to a Nexus 7 mounted on the hot shoe so that I can use the "DSLR Controller " app.
If you want to hand-hold the Nexus, you will need to 1m / 2m cable.
