Kimberly Kincaid writes sexy-sweet contemporary romance and edgy, steamy romantic suspense. When she's not sitting cross-legged in an ancient desk chair known as"The Pleather Bomber", she can be found practicing obscene amounts ofyoga, whipping up anything from enchiladas to éclairs in her kitchen, or curled up with her nose in a book. Violet is a personal chef working on her own. When her twin brother, Jason, a police officer asks her to look after his partner, Noah. After Noah was shot and lost his memories. Violet’s father had been a cop too. He had been shot on the job so Violet was scared to date a cop. While she was helping him to get his memory back he was helping her get over her fear. I like the characters and the story is lighthearted.
2…..Drawing The Line
Jason has to keep an eyewitness, Serenity, safe when a bad drug dealer/killer is let out on bail. Jason takes Serenity to a safe house and they can’t fight their feelings for each other. He teaches her self-defense in their down time, but the trial is far away.
3…..Outside The Lines
Dr. Fisher became a doctor to help people in the ER after he lost his red-headed fiery girl friend, Jules, the girl of his dreams. Jules and Blake run a fundraiser carnival and begin to fall for each other all over again, despite the wishes of his mother, again. Jules was raised in foster care and his mother told her to leave while they were in college. Now, with Jules back into his life again, they couldn’t fight the feelings.
4…..Pushing The Line
Harper, a traveling artist who loved rock climbing and sky diving, comes back to town for her grandma’s funeral. Izzy, her grandma, left Harper her candy shop and her house. There is a fire at the candy shop and Aaron, the fire fighter, had to carry her out of the shop as she tried to get her grandma’s molds out of the fire. They fight the feelings they have for each other. The characters are well written and I like the romance.
I love how the author was able to put romance, action, some heart break, and happy times in all three of the novellas. I love her strong characters, at least one from each book over coming a personal obstacle, to finally become the person their love interest needs.
If you're thinking how can two people fall in love in such a short amount of them, because the books are novellas, well, in all three books, the Hero and the heroine have known each other for several years. Maybe with the exception of Jason and Serenity from the 2nd book, DRAWING THE LINE, who until a horrible crime Serenity has witnessed, has never had a personal relationship. But the time frame of the book is take over a few months time while Jason takes Serenity away in the witness protections program.
Out of the three stories, my favorite seems to be OUTSIDE THE LINES, Jules and Blake's story. Jules seems to have had it hardest, the most to prove with her past smacking her in the face. She's unsure of herself, sees herself as less for the man she wants, but in the end she'll willing to literally give all she has for the man she loves.
What I also like about this series, is in each book, the heroines each have a food item specialty they make and the author so graciously shares the recipe with us.
I have made Serenity's Apple Turnovers and Jules's Stuffed French Toast a few times already. If you're looking for a few, some what fast reads, with all the good stuff stories are made of, this is it. I would definitely recommend this line of books, and even try to make the recipes at the end of each book. Enjoy!
