Editorial Reviews

"LINKAGE is a wild and action-packed thriller, with new revelations and new developments around every corner... LINKAGE will provide a satisfying and adrenaline-charged read for those looking for drama and action." -- IndieReader Book Reviews

"It is this strange linkage between very human foster brothers and the people about whom they care and the disaster they must abort. Falconer flavors his otherwise terrifying concept with skillfully written humor, like pause breaths that make the story propel." -- 5 Stars: Amazon Vine Voice Review

"I ended up reading it in the evening including staying up well past my usual bed time, actual way, way past as I was fighting sleep because I didn't want to stop reading... I read a lot and I felt this book warranted every single star that I gave it as it was definitely a quality sci-fi read." -- 5 Stars: Diana L. Amazon Top 500 Reviewer

Linkage is a thrilling science fiction adventure that starts off fast and doesn’t slow down. Right from the beginning we are thrown into an impossible situation where the end of the world is eminent. Dr. Lucas Ramsey is rolling over thoughts of how he caused this to happen and what is to be done now, when he is interrupted by Military Police. They are there for Lucas and his brother Drew, both of whom are astrophysicists. What happens next is a wild ride to save humanity that takes Lucas and Drew through unexpected challenges.

Author Jay Falconer delivers a gripping story that captures the imagination and the heart. His characters are well developed, the dialogue flows naturally and his world comes together with vivid intensity. Millions have died and there is a narrow chance for survival. Drew and Lucas struggle against the odds to save humanity before it is too late. Drew, though handicapped and confined to a wheelchair, has amazing personal strength, character and intelligence. He and his brother Lucas have an incredible chemistry that strengths the story. There is science, fear, doubt, clones, aliens, mystery, suspense, death, destruction, the ultimate race, shocking revelations, and hope. I am anxious to begin the next book in the The Narrows of Time Series. For an unforgettable experience, I highly recommend it!

I enjoyed Linkage enough to read it twice. It brings together many of my interests, some of which are scientific, and one of which is not.

The fate of earth and humanity hang in the balance. Two young, genius foster-brothers, Lucas and Drew, face a closing window of opportunity to get results from an experiment with an element that shouldn't exist. A spur-of-the-moment tweak brings results which snowball into a civilization-threatening invasion, though not from outer space. Lucas and Drew are then swept up, as they say, in the political and military response to the invasion, while at the same time coping with the unveiling of their reality as something far different than they had ever expected.

Some end of the world stories are heavy, and some are not. "Linkage" is on the lighter side. The two brothers are best friends, and they have a youthful energy that translates into optimism and humor...most of the time. Enough of the time. A love interest or two brings in the wondrous influence of the right woman at the right time, the reason any man rises to the challenge and becomes a hero. (Brotherly love counts as love, right?)

The story takes time to explain some principles of quantum dynamics, which it mixes with the "soft" science of the non-existent element that the story hinges upon, so I don't consider this hard Sci-Fi, if that's your thing. However, it does a great job capturing the careful procedures and attention to detail which scientists the world over must adhere to. The author clearly has personal experience with the scientific process, and I detect a respect for that ethic, as well.

The death of 127 people on the campus was all pointed to the adoptive brothers Lucas and Drew Ramsay. Who would have thought that their brilliant minds in the field of astrophysics will lead them to incarceration? A Million or more continue to die…Now they are burdened to devise an ultimate plan to save the entire planet from total destruction that is believed to be their own doing.

The “Linkage” is indeed, thrilling! You will want to continue flipping the pages for more. The twists keep coming and will have you looking for more. Although some parts of the initial chapters were a bit slow, it is really a dynamic, surprising, and exciting sci-fi novel, overall.

This author is new to me and I am so pleased that I discovered his books.

The first book 'Linkage' introduces the main characters Drew and Lucas who are adopted from an orphanage but they consider themselves brothers. Drew has a disability and is confined to a wheelchair. I particularly liked that there is a genius disabled character as this combination seems unique in the fiction world. Other characters are introduced along the way that add strength to the plot. Some reviews have mentioned that the plot is not as polished as it should be, but I disagree with this (remember this is a first time author), because, to me, everything made sense. Yes there were aliens but their purpose is established in the second book, so don't be put off by what you read in the first book as this is a series. I did find a few spelling errors but generally the book was well written and kept my attention. One thing I would have like to see is an explanation of the terms that are used in the book such as 'incursion chamber' as I think this would help people understand the plot better.

This book had a good grip on me from start to finish. Hard sci-fi is not usually my go-to genre, but this author did a great job of explaining the more scientific concepts in an easy to understand way. At no point was I left wondering what something was or how it works, so nothing took the focus and enjoyment from the storyline.

The world the author created is also quite intriguing and original. Obviously a lot of thought went into setting it up, especially in terms of the science. The characters are well-written, and the plot flows along at a good pace. The twists are not predictable at all and about one quarter into the book I just couldn’t put it down, since I needed to find out what happens next. I’ve already bought Book 2 in the series and can’t wait to start reading it to find out what happens next!
