From the Author
In exploring why, three things became evident. First, I was drawn to many of the books on my shelf because of the author or title. Second, I did not take the necessary time to evaluate whether my identified need was addressed by the purpose of the book or in the content developed for the author's "target audience". Third, despite a positive connection between the purpose of the book and my need, I wasn't necessarily committed to the work required to see the positive outcome I desired.
In order to support your success, I provide below a list of the "target audience" I believe will see the most benefit from my book here in the preface. Take a moment to review the list to see whether this book is ideal for you. I also lay out the purpose of the book and the strategies I will use to help you along the way.
The target audience includes:
*Professional Service Providers (e.g. attorneys, accountants, financial services)
*B2B1 Sales Professionals & Sales Leaders
*B2B Business Owner
*Coaches & Consultants
*Speakers & Authors
*Social Media Consultants
*Anyone who wants to begin generating leads and sales using LinkedIn!
The purpose of my book is simple. I want to help you, and your business, successfully generate leads using the LinkedIn platform. To do this, I will share my knowledge and experience, industry best practices, relevant case studies, concept-driven exercises, and tools that can be practically and immediately applied. In essence, this book offers you the opportunity to practically apply what you read as you read it.

Not only does Melonie explain the various features and functions very well, one of her case studies was a "Eureka" moment for me. For the past couple of years, I have tried in vain to use LinkedIn for sales. Just never clicked. Many variations on a theme later, I'm reading her case study 4 and it hits me why none of the previous attempts were successful!
I have rewritten my latest attempt using Melonie's ideas and think that it may work now!
Her Lead Gen checklist and the ideas in the last 3 or 4 on using LinkedIn in a structured way to generate leads are also gold!
Thanks for a great book Melonie!
The book is written in a very complicated style, and it's all about "me me me and me again". Book that sells more of Melonies courses, speaking and other services. Save your money and time. There are better books out there.
Melonie's book gives an excellent overview of more than LinkedIn - it covers the concept of "social selling" and how that is changing marketing and sales strategies in all industries worldwide. As an expert in lead generation systems, I found this particularly valuable as it has helped me frame my own positioning in the professional market... and I now realize I need to better focus my own LinkedIn profile to match my audience and what they're searching for.
The best part is the action guide - a step by step process that you can apply daily/weekly/monthly depending on how much LinkedIn applies to your networking and social selling process. Once you get over the fact that you ARE selling something, this book will definitely help you: from researching and updating your profile right down to following up with people in several ways.
One set of gems I discovered are the privacy/notification tips that Melonie reveals in the book.
*Please note I didn't purchase this ebook as I got a review copy, but it's well worth the price in any case!
Thanks Melonie for putting this all together in a concise, well-edited, and actionable guide.
All if forgiven, though, because Melonie delivered what I had hoped for: actionable info and solid strategy. LinkedIn shows you WHAT to put in your profile, yeah, but Melonie shows you HOW it should be done for maximum effectiveness. She does so with easy to implement formulas.
As for strategy, Melonie tells you various tasks to do on a daily, weekly, monthly schedule---how often to share content, or post, or give and ask for recommendations. I especially liked this part. You can do whatever you like, of course, but having Melonie as a guiding light makes me a lot more confident that as long as I follow the program I will get steady results.
